If I could afford it I would have a street triple as well as the America I have, Its a nice styled streetfighter bike with more than enough poke., would be good for the one up twisties. Have you seen the span adjusters on the levers, beautiful work.
I got to pay for the america first though

Very nice choice, but I would also take a look at the ST. Man that is some nice machine as well

I have just got to get a job, I don't think the Mrs will go for three bikes in the garage

Dude, you're a nut. If I was closer & more financially able (retirement savings funds are THE MOST important $$$ drain for me right now,) I'd take that Versys off your hands in a heartbeat. I really want one!

Do what ya gotta do brother,
Jim

I thought you sold your Versys a long time ago!

Mine is going strong, no plans on selling it anytime soon.

My wife is buying an '03 Honda Shadow 600 today, would have loved to have found another Triumph in our price range, but nothing turned up. But its going to be her bike, so I let her make the decision.

Yeah, it is. I'd really love to add the Versys to the stable right now, but it's not in the cards. Oh well.... I'll make do with my Speedy til retirement. Tough life, I know. Lol!!

Awesome bike, at least the two I rode. But, with no wind protection, it may not be as good a touring mount as the Versys.

Ok, ya'll are gonna think I'm really crazy! I test rode honda 2008 cbr1000r today! The acceleration was amazing, but oh my god, the bike sucks, how boring, shift to second at 70 and you are done, doesn't handle all that great and the riding position sucks! I am now only considering a Thruxton, are they as uncomfortable as the sport bikes? When I got back on my Harley Fatbob, thought I had died and gone to heaven compared to the cbr1000rr! My Triumph is in the shop getting the rear tail light wired by the way.

If you thought the CBR didn't handle good, the Thruxton will handle terrible. The '08 CBR literbike, when operated properly, is supposed to be one of the sweetest handling rides to date.

the CBR will take more effort to turn in, but once it's over, it's gonna stick...the thruxton with it's skinny wheels will fall over easy, but won't be as stable once it's over.

The trick to either is to not countersteer as you would on a cruiser bike.

I'd say dump it quick before too many people find out about Triumph and the value of far east bikes starts dropping.

I've had 3 Kawasakis, all were as reliable as a crowbar, the engines are fantastic, and the Positive Neutral Finder is the best feature a transmission ever had.

I've had 4 Kawasaki's in my time and will agree with you 100 per cent!
I no longer have any interest in jap bikes (unless they come out with a super adventure bike) ... but I can't deny the above.

motor is strong and lasts just do the services it needs when they are due
ride one you'll get a grin ear to ear
one wheels enough

REALLY???!!!

Are you SURE you're not just being a little overly sensitive here, Mark??? Why I've "never" noticed this about GB's preferences in motorcycles around here BEFORE!!!

(uh huh...yeah...riiiiiiight)

As for ME, I'd take a very nice example of a '69 or '70 Honda CB750...THE BIKE THAT KILLED THE BRITISH MOTORCYCLE INDUSTRY ALMOST SINGLEHANDED and almost did in H-D to boot, because it was SUPERIOR to anything that came from England and/or Milwaukee in 1969...and be glad to add it to my garage any day of the friggin' week!

(and they're OUT THERE, to be SURE, and growing in market value at a tremenous rate right now, BTW)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Good call Marcus. I still want one too for that very reason. That and a new Concours14, some flavor of HD (read night train, or street glide,) and what ever else catches my eye.

Enjoy all you've got my brother. You're one lucky man.
