I just bought two small chrome 55 watt driving lights from Wallymart and ordered a Triumph wiring harness (for the light bar system) to wire them up using a relay. I'm going to mount these cheapy little lights down near my front fender on each side for visibility.
Today I "think" I found the plug-in under my tank for the Triumph aux lights/power. It's a female plug and the recept is in the shape of a T. I know one of the wires was purple.
Before installing these lights I hooked one up to my 12v car battery and in just a minute the suface of the small chrome light bucket was really HOT. So much so that I could hardly touch it. Has anyone used these lights and if so have you had any problem with them getting too hot with such a small air space for a 55w halogen h3 bulb? Maybe I need to get a couple of small 35 watt ones instead?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

T shaped socket is the aux power socket. The light bar socket is a 6 wire (all in line, not stacked) socket under the tank in proximity to the relay positioned just over the carbs.

Thanks for the info on the power socket. I saw another connector like the one you showed below and it was attached to the right side of the frame however, it was a double and had the numbers 1 thru 12 on it and had two of the connections looped together. I guess I was looking at something other than the 'accessory light connector'.

I think the 1-12 connector is the OEM alarm connection. The 1-6 may be taped to a part of the wire harness also...

Jack, I am going to change my bulbs to 35 watt because of the heat issue. Here is what I found out. The bulb in the lights from Walmart that I got are not H3's they are 50W MR16 with a GU5.3 Bi-Pin Base. Link here: 50 watt MR16 I am going to order these for my Walmart chrome housings and hope they have enough light: 35 Watt MR16

from my earlier post:
Model QH-7cc from JC Whitney-just checked it(or WalMart now also) I have had them on for a year now and they are still just like new. They come with all brackets and wiring, although I used the Triumph light bar wiring that I already had. They mounted under the fork triple tree, between the forks. They bolted through 2 existing triple tree holes (probably for the Triumph windscreen??). At 55 watts each, oncoming cars really see you, which is why I wanted them. I leave them "on" all the time. I would post pics from my gallery, but the "PhotoPost" is down now. When it is up, you can go there and see them for yourself. --Tom
PS: does anyone know if the "PhotoPost" is still really down, or is it just me?

I got driving lights and do not go above 35 watts. I think any thing higher is just to taxing on the electric system
