That's great! Reminds me of the old 'Murican art of jalopy racing back in the 50's and 60's. http://californiajalopy.homestead.com/page1.htmlThe cars were limited to 1932 - 1936 vintage low price models with stock (more or less) engines and the suspension had to at least look like the original. I was lucky enough to know one of the racers, so I got to play a little. They were raced in second gear to maximize torque in the bends. Truely stock, these cars might reach 45 MPH in second, in race condition they would go at least 60.

Only in Britain, makes you proud in some sort of funny way, I know a girl who's father used to own a breakers yard and she used to stock car race all the time, similar to the robin, but a bit more fun. Banger racing as it was called in the 70's..

One of the first Subaru models imported into the USA was a 2-stroker POS which quickly started a whole new genre of racing. I think I've seen a Yugo race or two somewhere, but nothing handles quite like these Robins seem to.

I remember those things. You couldn't drive them on the freeway because the outer main bearing would go dry and fail.

I also remember the Yugo's, back in the 80's they fell into the category of unreliable eastern european cars that Skoda once topped.
Joke: Whats the radiator in the boot (trunk) of a Skoda for?
A: To keep your hands warm while your pushing it.

The whole darn country disappeared shortly after they were imported so good luck finding parts! Funny thing is there is one that I see running around here every so often.
