those brackets are pretty rigid, im pretty sure its not bobbing and swaying up and down any while riding because ive put maybe 2000 miles on it and the brackets are in the same spot. I think if anything they provide more cushion to the battery than being bolted straight to the frame.

marmite motorway - Noun. The anus. The expression, the British equivalent of the U.S. slang hershey highway, can be heard expressed in phrases such as up the marmite motorway, meaning up the anus. http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/m.htm

The cover is a pretty much direct fit, you might need to trim a small section off the bottom back towards the rear wheel. The america has a larger frame piece crossing through there and the back corner of the cover touches it a bit...you can actually push on it and force it on but i didnt wanna do that cause it was putting a bit of lateral strain on the bolts. Also if you do buy a t100 cover make sure the bolts are included because the the t100 cover needs longer bolts than the stock cover.
Ever since i removed the side covers I knew i needed to put a smaller sprocket cover on there to slim things down a bit. And the stock black cover matches perfect with the paint so it was a no brainer. Its also good cause theres a little lip that holds the wires coming from the engine that used to be held by that little bracket. And now i have that holding up the crankcase breather.

ill admit that when i see those big harley dressers with whitewalls, i hate them...i guess cause whitewalls to me sorta represent like a higher class type of vehicle, like anyone that can afford the time and money to keep up with whitewalls is too rich to be liked, but then when youre just a middle class guy like me riding a chopped up bike its sorta going against the grain a bit.
Like a rolls royce grille and whitewalls on a rat rod t bucket. Or cadillac taillights on a pickup truck.

GREAT WORK!!! SOME BLACK GATORS ON THOSE FORKS (I THINK) WOULD LOOK GREAT AND REALLY SET THE FRONT END OFF! TALK TO ME ABOUT YOUR AIR FILTERS...INTERESTED IN WHAT I NEED TO BUY TO CLEAN UP THE CENTER. ALSO, WHERE TO BUY WHITEWALLS...I AM IN THE MARKET FOR NEW TIRES AND HAVE BEEN WANTING THEM FRONT AND BACK. THANKS!

Those are the K&Ns and he has a carb brace (turn buckle from the hardware store works just fine, you could even get a nice shiny stainless one from a boating supply place)The filters are RC-2890 and RC-2900.

Looks good dude! I really dig your bike. I got my whitewalls the other day, just have to get them mounted. I like the look without the front fender too, still deciding whether to lose mine or just modify it to fit the tire.

A word of caution and advice, if you ever ride in wet weather at all keep the fender. The front tire with no fender will throw a stream of water directly in your face. The look is cool I agree and I have considered it on past bikes but after riding one on wet roads I'll keep one on all my bikes.

Yeah jeff i was waiting for you to post. Theres not much to buy to move the battery to the center. You need 2 L-shaped brackets from home depot, and 4 decent sized lock nuts and bolts. The rest is just cutting the battery tray because theres 2 flanges that stick off the side and the bottom, then you just bolt the L-shaped brackets to the back of the battery tray and then you use the 2 rear fender bolts to hold the bracket/battery tray assembly up. Check out the diagram i drew in one of the previous posts to get a visual. Also you can PM "nightrider" for some more pics of the battery tray being bolted with the brackets. He just got done moving his battery and has some mid-assembly shots of everything. I wish I had the patience to keep the camera next to me when im working, I just like to focus on the task at hand..haha...taking pictures, for me, is like being too confident that its going to actually work in the end..haha
My rear tire is a dunlop whitewall that came with the bike, i have no clue what model. And the front is a Maxxis 120/90 18...both tires are for tubless but theyre mounted with tubes anyway. I had to warn the guy mounting it that I know its not "made for the bike" and all that....I also have no handling issues with the wider front tire at all.

Thanks man, yeah i still havent wrote off the front fender yet. I like to ride the whole day and sometimes that means coming home in the rain and its gonna suck getting caught with no front fender. I still got my fender waiting in the wings for me to fab up some longer brackets to accomodate the taller fatter tire, i just been busy with other things.
Im seriously contemplating a collapsable front fender of some sort that i can mount under the bike and when it rains just pull it out and slap it on really fast. Something like made from thicker canvas and 2-3 side bracket pieces that arent too long, and you'd just take it off and fold the canvas pieces accordian style or something...haha
I never had a problem with my front fender until I took it off and now im thinking fenders are for squares..ahha

Very well done. I thought I'd have a problem with the seat color, but it really ties in well with the rest of the bike. Yours has definitely gone to the short list of my favorite Americas/Speedmasters. If you could find someone to make some grips in the same color as the seat, that'd look sharp!!

Thanks brent, some tan colored grips would be pretty sweet. The seat is hit or miss with most people, they either get it or they dont i guess. I can definately tell its my bike from far away in the middle of a crowd so it gets the job done. Although after reading jeffs post about the red wine seat, its got me thinking..ahah

Thanks for the info on the battery and tires...I will be doing a few new mods (red wine seat/grips, air ride suspension, lowering front end)over a 12 pack and a rainy day so this adds to my list! I really cant help but go back to your first post and stare at your pics...that is one sexy bike!!! Just plain AWESOME !
thanks man, your bikes right up there with my favorites too. That red wine seat and grips would be awesome, i'd love to see what that look would be like with mine. Sorta like the ox blood doc martens looks right?

Absoultely! I think it will really set the bike off being it flat black and a little chrome. EVERYBODY thinks my bike is 30+ years old on first glance and cant believe it when I tell em its a 2004! I guess I have achieved my goal! I'll post some pics when I get her done.

yeah i once talked with a guy for 20 minutes about my bike and as he was walking away he mentioned something about my bike having pushrods and not being reliable as the newer honda engines and when i told him it had 2500 miles on it and was an 03 he had no clue what to say...he just kept stumbling like "i seen the whitewalls and exhaust wrap..blah..blah..blah"
yeah dude oxblood seat and grips would rule

how did you do the shocks? Did you cut them or have someone else do it? Have them painted or powdercoated?

Love the whitewalls. The whole bike looks great. Its funny how when i got into motorcycles everything had to be shiny and chrome but now that is changing. I like the flat black and the blacked out look altogether. What would be really nice would be some old fashioned hot rod pinstripping. That would set off the tank and fenders. A little red and white would be great, but that is just my opinion. Jack
I think the blacked out thing is backlash from the obsession with chrome from all the years in the past. Every bike you buy now has chrome on it, so people want it the opposite. Of course theres ALOT of bikes coming already blacked out now too...im sure my kids will be into chrome and my grandkids will like rust and primer..ahah
If i put pinstripes on it, it'd be someone elses bike i think. I'd honestly like to paint it satin brown or army green to be a tad bit different.
Trouble with chrome is, you spend more time polishing it than you do riding it! Give me a bike you can wipe over with WD40, jump on and ride any day.

stock shocks just cut down? I Am wanting to do the same but thought the piston inside would bottom out. What is your measurement from center to center...I need 10 1/2 inches. Would accept 10 3/4.

I luv that bike,, I wish I could run pipes like those here but oh well,, makes me want to go tear everything of my speedy,, and a super big plus on blackening that chrome cover on the tank,,, I'd like to completley toss mine because I can't see the lights if they did light and the sun won't be reflecting back up into my face..
whitewalls are cool,,,, I think I will do my battery like yours I just need to get up the kahunhas to try it...
I saved those pics to guide me in my jouney 8^)

Ted theyre honestly not that loud of pipes. Theyre only loud when youre really romping on the gas. Otherwise they just purr pretty quietly. Everytime i pass a cop i just make sure im in a higher gear and keep it easy on the throttle and it dont sound any louder than the honda civic next to me...ahah

I think the bottoms alone blacked out would be quite good, to do it all wquld be too much. If anything, then maybe the bottoms and the triple trees and leave the rest shiny. Then on the blacked out, do a little pinstripping, not a lot though, just some character lines.

Pinstripes are as played out as flat black paint..haha

Maybe but they still look good if not over done. You can always hang the front end of your bike from the rafters by a strap.

what i mean is, if my bike was just a normal stock paint job people wouldnt say "add some pinstripes", but because its flat black and has whitewalls, it falls into this "typecast" catagory and needs pinstripes to help complete the "look"
Ill admit it plays to a genre of sorts as far as looks go, but i dont wanna meet every standard. Thats why i never bobbed the rear fender.
