Installing a GPS and need power and ground. I prefer not to go back to the battery if possible. there is a plug under the tank cover that has an orange wire and a white wire. Can i use that?

That's for the alarm LED so probably not. How about going back to the accessory outlet under the tank instead?

Ground should not be a problem, and there is the option of a clock so there should be a constant live as well in there somewhere.

Under the tank console is the clock connector. Its the plug with the three wires. The purple wire is the constant 12volts. There is also an earth connection on the same plug (brown??).

Yup it depends on whether you want the power feed 'switched' or not? The accessory feed is also a permanent 12+ feed...

buy the 12v adapter plug from Triumph and install under seat at appropiate hole. You will need to purchase a bmw type plug adapter for that small socket but it is virtually vibration proof and waterproof.you can also purchase an adapter at your local bmw dealer to plug your battery tender into which includes a plug with clips..hence a power adapter for your gps,a jump start plug if your battery is in need of jump, and a stable plug in for your battery tender when needed...a total outlay of about 80 dollars!!You can purchase adapter plugs also at John Deere dealer as they use same plugs due to ability to function under extreme vibration.

life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

Instead of BMW adaptor, it is a 10mm DIN socket, any marina outlet will have the adaptors. will be about a 1/3 of the price of BMW!!!!

Ah...that answers my question Paul. I was at a marina yesterday and couldn't see anything that looked like them, but didn't know what to ask for either...but do now!

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....
