I just want some opinions on what could be causing my front Dunlop D404 to start cupping around the 1000 mile mark. It has happened on 3 tires in a row. I'm at about 4500 miles on the current tires, and if I let go of the bars at virtually any speed the bars immediately start to shake violently. Of course the higher the mileage, the more obvious it becomes. I've checked the more obvious things like tire balance, air pressure, wheel bearings and steering head bearings, and they all appear to be fine. Could it have anything to do with the Dunlop brand or tire model?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

I thought the most common reason for cupping was running with too low pressure. I'm not sure if the Dunlops are much different, what pressures have you been using?

I've had the same problem with Avons. There are many opinions about proper tire pressure and I have yet to find what pressure will prevent this.

Mine would wobble with the stock Dunlops on. Does not with the Metzlers.

Mine did that with the OEM Bridgestones which incidently made me very nervous in the corners..last year I changed to Metzlers and no wobble and dead smooth in the corners with massive grip.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I need to go with Metzelers next go around. What model Metzelers are y'all running?

Marathon XXL 130/70-18. The wider tire looks nice, and its only 3mm taller than a 110/80.
Americanmototire.com has the best prices I've found.

weeble wobble but they don't fall down. There. now maybe that dern phrase will stop haunting me every time I read the title to your post!

Cupped tires, a loose headset, misaligned wheels, inadequate inflation pressures, unbalanced wheels all contribute to webbles wobbling.
