I jsut got back from a 900 mile ride to Maine over the past 4 days. It was great, except I would love to rest my right foot on something. My left foot rests on the rocker lever, and I would love to get a heel rest for my right foot. Has anyone got something to offer us with our pegs or with the hanger piece we have on our bikes?

Thanks,
Charles

I have Kuryakyn Switchblades with a built in heel rest. The heel rest retracts. They make a Triumph adapter for our bikes. I have pics in my gallery.

cmaraia,

All I can say is Footboards. I have them and wouldn't be without them. You can change your foot position in a number of ways.

I'm not ready to change pegs just yet. And I think the floorboards are too much for the bike, I'm trying to keep it minimal. Plus, I have short legs and I think they will jsut get in my way and not be as comfortable as I'd like. I would like to try them though.

There is no adjustment on the switchblades other than opening and closing tension. The thing I like is that you can open and close them when you're riding. I just move my foot to the side of the peg and grip the lever with my boot. They open right up and close with your toe. I close them in city driving and open them on the highway or on long winding roads. I have ISO wings on the rear and Switchblades on the fronts. I had floorboards but didn't like them. You really need a heel/toe shifter with the floorboards and I thought it was awkward. Boogiemans heel rest looks nice also. I think our style of bikes looks better without the floorboards. Just my personal opinion. I was think of trying ISO wings on the front but I'm not sure how that would work or look on the bike.

cmaraia,

Short legs, boards rock! Multiple positioning on rides, can stretch, pull back. They look good too. Only thing you have to get used to RIGHT AWAY, they hide the kick stand...won't say how I know..... only happens once!

Hi, I have the switchblades and can only say they're great.
Had floor boards on at the dealer but I had them take them off, always felt like my foot was getting stuck under the shifter. Found the blades and it was the perfect happy medium for me..good luck..those heel pegs look pretty good too, I might have tried them if I saw them first.

Hey Mike, not to totally derail the thread, but you're in Coram? Like long island? I'm in Bellport. We should ride sometime, maybe up to cruize night next week at Bald Hill? Drop me a line.

I've been using floorboards since the bike was new. Never had a need for a heel/toe shifter and wouldn't travel any long distance without the floorboards.

Amen to that. I ran the stock pegs for about 6 months and got tired of watching out for the rear brake lever (seemed to find it all too easy where my foot naturally rested).

Changed to the boards and have absolutely loved them since. I would never go back to pegs.

I want floorboards for the same reason. Is there someone who makes a good pair cheaper than Triumph's?

Hi, I am new to the web site. I have been monitoring it for months and have picked lots of good info.
I have a 2005 Speedmaster. I found the floorboards were to far forward. I have a 29 inch inseam. I removed the floor boards and installed a Raask kit to reposition the front pegs and controls. The kit moved the pegs 4 inches back and 2 inches higher. Now the position is too close.
Does anyone think that if I returned the pegs/controls to their original position but used the heel rest it might help?

Welcome Larry.

I've got the Kuryakyn heel pegs and I think they are great. What they do is give you the option of resting your heel on them while the peg lets you stilllean you foot forward to get under the shifter. With the floorboards I imagine that you are locked into one position for your foot. I've got a 30" inseam and this setup works great for me.

Hi,
sorry for the long delay. My bike was at the dealer for service for 3 weeks. Talk abt. frustration, everything that I ordered either was never received or wouldn't fit with what the dealer put on when I bought the bike. Like the Chrome ring arround the seat, it looks great but it wouldn't fit with the the rear fender luggage rack. You would have thought Triumph would have checked it out first.
Back to the floorboards, I had mine taken off, my 29" inseam legs got cramped, these are 68 year old legs. So I will get rid of them, no not the legs. I am going to look into the heel pegs. Sounds like a great way to go. Is there any special fabrication necessary with it?
Oh, I also tried the Raask repositioning kit for the front controls. It was well thought out and produced but it moved the pegs too far back (4")and too close (2") further back. The above items will soon go on sale. Trying to get my legs in a comfortable postion has been expensive.

Hmm-I have a 30" inseam, and just did 1300 miles in 4 days on my '04 america, and the footboards were perfect. I would never take them off. We have the Triumph touring seat-I wonder if that makes the difference?

Back to the floorboards, ..... So I will get rid of them....

ODR,

Sent you a PM. I'm willing to try the floorboards with my 34" inseam, if you're willing to sell them.

Thanks,

Tom

Charles, I also have the switchblades and the only thing that I don't like is the fact I didn't get them alot sooner. I have a 30" inseam, so I found myself stetching to reach the pegs. I put the switchblades on because I could bring myself to pay the retail price for footboards. Darn glad I did. My ride is 10X more comfortable and can still have a peg or heelrest for a fraction of the price.

As a way of just altering your riding position enough to eleviate the tiredness, I lift my boots over and rest the back of my heel on top of the footpegs.

If you think about it, you're only moving the foot forward by the length of the boot heel, but it certainly makes a big difference.
It stretches the leg and slightly alters the butt position too.

I have a 29" inseam. When I bought my machine, I rode it home 170 miles. It was great, but a bit tiring on the legs. Got floorboards 6 months later and never looked back. With Ma's crash bars, I can prop my foot on the end of the board and up against the crash bars. I can move my feet to the back end of the boards and my feet feel positioned under me just like standard pegs. If you can find a BA close by with boards, see if you can take it for a spin. After a couple of SS1000s and a BB1500, the boards, Jim's Spacers, Clearview and lowers are the best things I've done... well, maybe after the Scottoiler.
