After noticing an oil spray on the left front of my new Speedmaster, I cleaned everything up and went for a toot today and the oil spray is there again. Here's a photo of where it seems to be starting from. Opinions please. The oil seems to collect under that bolt head and bulbous connection

Thanks Dog.....2 Crush washers....top and bottom? Any torque specs? Is this a factory slip up or a heavy handed dealer wrench? Don

...that bolt head and bulbous connection.

That's a "banjo bolt". Inside is a hollow bolt that lets oil through.

yes 2 crush washer according to my exploded view. Hard to tell if it's anyones fault or maybe just a bad washer or something like that. My manual says torque to 45 Nm.

And the bulbous fitting is , of course , a banjo fitting.

If I recollect correctly, there is a very slight "seat" in the stationary nut on the oil cooler. Keep both copper washers centered as you snug up the banjo bolt. The final torque on that one is 45nm - make sure you hold the cooler nut secure!!!!!

I agree Bill. Take this to your dealer as he is close by and get this fixed Don. I wouldn't touch it. The bike is only a week old and they should know what they are putting out.

Only a week old or 1 yr 11 months,if the dealer is close enough and won't keep the bike for a long time to check 1 fitting I would just take it back too.

Advice taken.....Will drop into Inglis Cycle on Monday. They're a great dealership and I know they'll take care of the problem.

Problem solved......ran my Speedmaster into Inglis Cycle at 1 PM today, told Gord about the oil leak from the banjo area and he wheeled my bike into the shop and proceeded to work on it himself. Twenty minutes later he rolled down the road on a test run and then right back into the shop. I knew the first fix didn't work. An hour later , another test drive and he then handed back my key. Problem solved. The oil line was originaly fitted in on a slight angle and the crush washers wouldn't seat properly. Gord took an oil line off a new bike in the showroom, installed it properly and no more oil leak. I was good to go. It's nice to have a great dealership nearby. Don

All the staff At Inglis Cycle are Riders and good service is what they're known for. Gord and his brother Mike have a fondness for the Triumphs. Having purchased 2 HD's from Rocky's, I can honestly say that I don't have any complaints about them or their service. Rocky's is a very large HD dealership so there can be times when you have to wait a bit for service...but they will help you out in a pinch . Don
