Has anybody put a different tank on their bike? Would a Bonneville tank fit/work on an America or Speedmaster?

It won't go right on, the mounting tab is different and I think something about the width of the tunnel too if I remember correctly.

You can get an '07 or older tank. I believe it will swap straight across.

I agree, it will be.

The Bonneville tank is a little shorter and uses 2 smaller bolts at the rear. I doubt it would be terribly hard to make a 2 hole to 1 hole adapter so it would bolt to the TBA/SM frame.

Pete has put on the bonnie tank but it isn't a straight swap. He had to put a jack inside the tunnel to spread it to fit our frames and near the bottom couldn't get it in so used a hammer to beat it until it was wider. As for the tab it's longer and the mounting setup is different. The bonnie tank is a longer tab so he cut it down and drilled a centre mounting hole to fit.

If you are serious about it I would contact him before attempting this.

I'd be interested in seeing pics of a BA or speedy with a bonny tank.

I did confirm today that the '07 and older Speedmaster/America tanks will fit directly on the '08's.
