Hey guys I have been considering picking up a yamaha roadstar to park next to the america for some time but I never knew anyone that owned one. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them on here? thanks

The missus had one of those star things for a short time. Most worthless thing I ever saw, she refused to ride it after the first few times out.

Lots of them here in my town and they all run, all of the time. Never rode one.

Lee (the_other) has one (1100) loves it put tons of miles on it since joining here (including an iron butt) has more Triumph Rally patches than some Triumph riders do...never heard him b1tch about it once...(except when changing the oil filter) But then when hes riding you don't hear him either

Well, hers would run as far as starting and all that. It just couldn't keep up with it's own smoke and handled like a '50 Buick Special.

the ones I have been looking at are 102ci i think and around 90+ lb.ft of torque so it has got to be faster then the america I would think.. my dad has a flh with around 85 horse and i love riding it because of the torque its so smooth and I was looking for somthing like that without a shaft drive and this fit.. what year was your wifes?

Seems like I read something on this site, quoting from a magazine, that said the Roadstar had some mechanical reliability issues.(Motor)Sorry, I can't remember enough to be more specific. Look into it though, maybe on a Roadstar site?

Hey, you know..my Chiropractor has one of those things(Y-Star). He just loves it and has it customized pretty nice. However, when he saw my slightly customized TBA, the following words were uttered by the good doc..."Now that's what a motorcycle should be!". Then he asked to sit on it and, as he soked it all up, he swore his next bike would be "one of these". There ya have it. True story.

Hers was an '03. As soon as I looked at the service manual I was ready to get rid of it. To adjust the carbs or replace the rear tire, half the motorcycle had to be disassembled. Her new Roadking handles better than that pig. At 37 miles, it was traded in on the America.

It's not so much that they are heavy as poorly designed. The other day, the OL rode her Roadking to work. A co-worker has a Star 1000 that is some 250 pounds lighter, but to stand them up, you'd swear the star is at least 300 heavier than the Roadking.
