The baffles on the Bubs are held in place by 2 pop-rivets.
If you want louder, some other pipes are in order for you.
They are straight thru, with mechanical baffles outside.
I think they give the most power gain when jetted right.
Member Frank with a big bore, and head work, and carbs, got
less on the dyno than I got with only a UNI, jets, and Bubs.
I'm no expert, but I think this says alot.

I'm making more HP than Frank too with gutted stock pipes and pods. But I think once he figures out whats going on he will be making way more than both of us.

I removed the baffles from my bubs. Makes 'em just crazy loud. Like Ian said, the rivets pop off pretty easily and then you just have to pound out the baffles. It was easier than I'd expected.

I think it was Cowtipper that recommended I put some beer can baffles in to quiet them down just a bit and give them some back pressure. Works great. When I got the bubs they just weren't quite loud enough for me, but with no baffles they are just ear splittingly loud. For the sake of my wife's desire to tell me what to do, I decided I would spare my hearing a few more years.

I just used one set of four inch beer can baffles, which can usually be found on ebay for less than ten dollars. It took the "edge" off of the sound enough that it wasn't physically painful, but left it loud enough to complete with just about any harley.
