Okay, I made a stupid mistake. I didn't get the side cover back on securely after taking it off the other day. On the next ride the wind caught it and pulled it off. Now its got some nicks and a few scratches from hitting the road. Its' not too bad; however, I wouldn't mind replacing it. Does anyone know if a chromed version is available? I tried searching the forums and looked at some of the after market sites with no luck. I may just have to go to the dealer and get a new black one.

I think there used to be but not anymore. There is a paint that is supposed to look like chrome but it's extremely expensive, I don't remember what it was called but I'm sure someone else will.

Early on there was a chrome cover, but they were as rare as hen's teeth. P/N was A9730052.
It is possible to get some plastics chromed - the instrument panel on the tank is plastic - check with a local chromer if you have one.
Finding a good used black one is tough. Check ebay.
BikeBandit lists them... $105!!

Enter part number "A9730052" (no quotes} in the search engine on the right side of this site.

Looks like they're out of Oklahoma also. I have no personal experience with them. You may want to give them a call prior to ordering on-line or check with your closest dealer to see if that part number is still actually obtainable.

Regards,

Tom

you should try to PM members "nightrider" and "baboon" they both have relocated the battery under the seat like mine and no longer have their side covers on their bikes. I sold mine last year to someone for really cheap. I no longer needed it. Try nightrider first, hes in canada and just relocated his battery.

Thanks. I might try that. I'll probably go by the place here in Oklahoma City that may sell the chromed ones just to see how they look.

If you don't get the chrome side cover from SpeedSupplies.com, here is that chrome paint http://www.alsacorp.com/products/killercans/kc/killerchrome.htm

Is this the side cover that covers up the fuses by the key?

Other side. The cover that says America or Speedmaster on it.

The one that retails for over $100.00 American dollars. It amazes me that this little plastic piece retails for that price.

Absofreaking ridiculous. But then again any little bits for our bikes or just about any bike are overpriced.
