I need some help figuring this out. I lost my high beams and can't seem to get them to work again. Here's what I've done so far- -inspected the bulb -doesn't look blown -pulled all fuses, cleaned & dielectric grease -pulled switch apart, cleaned & dielectric grease -switched relay
I did have some corrosion on the fuses and switch, not overly bad but there. The indicator light will come on, but not the high beams. I don't know where the ground is to check that. So if anyone can tell me where else to look and where the ground for the headlight is I would greatly appreciate it.

bulb could be bad without looking bad. Test it with an Ohm meter.

I would pull the wire loom out of the headlight bucket and inspect it for chafing. Also, make sure there aren't any wires that are broken, but "in place" on those connectors. I had a similar situation, and one of the wires had apparently been bent so much that it broke, but it was still right there so it didn't look broken till I fiddled with it.

Well I'm all set now. It turned out to be a bad bulb, which kinda ticks me off a little. I just bought the Xenon bulb last year. If I have to replace them every year then I'm going back to the regular bulbs. Is a short life span a problem with them?
Thanks for the help guys.

Glad it was simple at least! I switched to a sealed beam about3 years ago and it's still fine. Hard to carry a spare, but easy to find too.

If you touch some of those bulbs, the oil in your fingers will shorten the life span

The oil from touching the bulb with your fingers might cause the glass to break from the heat, but wont affect the filaments. Could have been a defective bulb?

I know not to touch the bulbs and take great care that I don't. I hope it was just a defective bulb. I put the other one in so we'll see if I have better luck with this one.
