I have an 05 speedy that has been sitting awhile while I recovered from a knee injury. Took it out for ride the other day and when I used the rear brake the pedal stayed down, I was able to put my foot under and pull it back up. Today I tried bleeding the brakes to see if that would do any good, no change. Anyone have any thoughts as to what it might be. And could someone give me a quick rundown on bleeding the brakes, just want to make sure I did that right. Thanks, Craig

Was it dry? If so the rubbers may have dried and then swelled when reintroduced to fluid. Bad return spring for another idea.
Make sure fluid is topped off, pump pedal until you have break then hold down and open bleeder, close bleeder and repeat. Or run a hose from bleeder into CLEAN glass jar with fluid in it. Open bleeder then pump breaks until no air bubbles are seen in the jar of fluid, close bleeder. Some guys have had to remove the caliper to get all the air out. Air is not why your pedal won't return.

+1 on broken, stuck or unhooked return spring or corrosion on mounting stud. Also, a helper pumping the pedal sure is handy when bleeding the rear line. Ian's got the rest covered.

If it's sticking when you push the pedal I would look at the master cylinder. If it needs bled, it wouldn't make the pedal stick.

I've had this happen on another older bike I have. I took off the pedal and found the shaft it's hooked too had corrosion around it. So I took the shaft out and cleaned it up real good and added a little grease then put it back together, no problems since.
