Guys, my bike is DIRTY from riding in the rain, and I was wondering what you all use to clean stainless. Simichrome? Also, my pipes seem to be getting a little brownish towards the front... Think polishing will help? Thanks!

Yeah that's what I figured... Maybe a buffing wheel?

Not a buffing wheel. A five gallon bucket and a six pack of brew. Radio on and the fan blowing. Time, aka elbow grease. Careful with the simichrome. Start using it and you can't stop. Oil lines, brake lines, banjo bolts all get chrome shiny with simichrome. The biggest impact on your ride will be the clutch and brake levers. Wow! OK, for the header pipes you can use a buffing wheel, but where is the fun in that?

Rather ride it than polish it I guess:) First thing I got for my garage was a radio... Small CD player that plays MP3s too, so I can bring my ONE CD that has the entire Zeppelin catalog on it

Do a web search for stainless steel cleaners. I once had a neighbor who sold stainless cookware and each kit included a jar of some white stuff that would remove heat discolouration at a single wipe. That was a very long time ago, and I have no idea what the stuff was.

Haven't done anything yet but I finally have all the pieces I need for the pipes and other polishing projects. Got some money for my grad-ea-tion and spent some on this (actually caught it on sale for $20 off so paid $60): Craftsman 8" Grinder and then went to Caswell and got this for $47: Stainless Steel Polishing Kit So for just over $100, I now have a pretty good polishing setup. btw, I removed the left grinding wheel (the rougher one) and will use the sisal & cotton wheels on there.

Dude sweet setup!! I have an idea for my (very limmited in size) work bench. Have one corner be sort of modular and be able to just drop in a grinder, or a small drill press, etc. Then keep them on the shelf when I want a bare bench. No way do I have room for everything, and no way am I hauling my bench vise off and on:) I'll have to check out those polishing wheel kits!! nice to have it all in one, then you aren't playing the guessing game at the store...

Benny, all the epcos turn "brown" at the connection point. I rubbed a little bluejob on mine and it went right away. (it took one minute..

I've used Mother's mag wheel cleaner for the staining which works pretty good but mine are getting scratched here and there and I plan on taking them off and doing a really good job on them with the above setup.
I also have plans to polish some other stuff on the bike (aluminum, SS).

Nothing works better than Bluejob. I have Epco's and it keeps them looking great.
