SO Monday I get a call about A 2005 Suzuki GSXR600 I have for sale. Guy says he has cash in hand, and wants to see the bike at noon.. So I take the bike out of storage, put it up on a lift and throw the charger on it.. Give it a good once over, everything looks good.. Bike is pretty dirty and my pressure washer is in storage so I am going to drive it over to the car wash for a good spray down. I pull out of the shop take a Right on Dorchester then a right onto Palmetto Dr.. I slowed down and looked there was a truck turning form across the intersection with me.. No big deal I was in a "keep moving change lanes later" lane.. Anyhow this truck just keeps on comming over, into my lane.. I honk the horn. He is still coming,he is close enough to where i kicked his truck but he still clipped me.. I lowsided the bike, dislocated my right shoulder, road rash on my butt, right arm, right thigh.. Bike has frame as well as swing arm sliders on it.. Only damage it got was a rashed up front brake lever that i did not find till today, and a crushed exhaust can..

So there oyu have it,, my 30 MPH low side with damage.. Maybe I need soem frame slidders on me lol..

Ditch,
Sorry to hear about your injuries. At least I got a shiny chrome ball thingie in my "new" left shoulder from my laydown. Airport screeners around the world are going to love me for now on.

Since my accident, at the beginning of April, my new "mission" is to encourage everyone to wear good quality gear. Armored leather jacket, armored pants, leather gloves, good leather boots and full face helmet. I got busted up on my left side, but not a mark on my skin except for two tiny scratches on my back of my left hand. My gear worked and the price I paid for it is nothing compared to what could have happened if I wasn't wearing it.

Anyway, glad you will be ok and hope you recover quickly. Best wishes!! Want some of my Percocet or Oxycontin?? lol

Yeah I am fine,, I was back working later that day,, not the truck did not stop I honestly dont think he even knew he ran me off the road..

I had on Levis and a textile ridding jacket.. the seam att he shoulder came apart after I slammed into the pavement.. It could have been much much worse.. The people behind me got the tag number off the truck,, but the officer said proving the owner was the driver would be hard.

Annhow,, you guys be safe,, esp up North, the cage drivers are not use to seeing bikes on the road..

Good to hear your ok! A few years back I walked out of the house to go to work.Turned around and took my jacket back in.It was just tooo nice outside to ride with a jacket on.Dropped it coming to a normal stop, hit some pea gravel.Broke my left elbow.Just fractured it.Got up(embarrest)picked the bike up and pushed it off the side of the road.Picked out the gravel out of my arm.Wiped some blood off.Went on to work and cleaned up better. After it healed up my wife pointed out to me I had cracked my elbow.I wear a jacket hot or cold out now.I thought I was doing good always wearing my helmet, but noooooo.Leather is cheaper than skin or a good textile jacket. The nice well made summer jackets can actually help keep you cool in the summer time also.

I'm calling BS on the cop!

1. Find the owner of the truck.

2. Ask, 'Did you allow anyone else to use your vehicle today or has it completely been under your control?'

3. If the owner says he/she has been the only driver, then cite them.

Period!

Hope you get back to 100% soon man, BTW wouldn't this be considered a hit and run? How can one possibly be so oblivious to such an incident? Someone must have gotten a good look at the driver...

+1 on that. Even if the opwner was not the driver, he is still responsible for that truck and what happens with that truck. Call the DA to see about charging them hit/run. Call a lawyer and sue the guy.

Glad yopu are OK, at least you didn't end up under the truck!

Did you show/sell the bike anyway?

I think the cop should have done his job but from what I have seen recently many don't want to bother. If you don't have much in the way of bills and the bike is OK I might opt for avoiding the hassles of suing the guy, but you would be in the right if you did so.

I went to see my lawyer today, he says we can go after the insurance company of the truck seeing as how we have whitnesses.. the PD did wrtie a accident report or a FR-10 report as it is known.. Biggest problem is it will show up as a accident on my driving recond even tho i was not at fault..

I did sell the bike today... I was in the ER when he wanted to come see the bike.. He came and looked at it today. I have a slip on pipe from a swap out I did a year or so back i put on the bike.. I told him everyhting that happened, and told him as far as i can tell the bike did not suffer any damage.. I did however drop the price 500.00 dollars..

It's good to hear you're going to be okay and I'm glad it didn't bugger the sale for you. And, punish the creep that caused it.

Look on the bright side though . . . at least you can say you have the plate number of the truck that hit you!

Sorry to hear it but I'm glad you weren't really hurt and by the sounds of it, things are now looking up. Stories like this keep reminding me of the dangers that we can and do encounter and I always wonder, "when will it be my turn"?

You are a good man. You get creamed, pay med bills and lawyer fees, and then drop the price of the bike $500. Sorry to hear what happened to you but I'm going to remember this lesson everytime something doesn't go my way. Funny how turning on the computer in the a.m. can really change your day. Thanks for posting this.

Dude, you remind me of a very good friend of mine. Every time you turn around, he has broken something. He's got more screws in him than my bike. I hope you get over this little spill real soon. And I hope get that bike sold too. Please be careful in the future.
