Must say I know very little about this, ok that is an overstatement, I know nothing about this. I want to do spoke 200 wheels on the back and a normal spoke wheel on the front of my ’05 speedmaster, which currently has magged wheels. I saw somebody do this but I think I will use Buchanan spokes and rims so all I really want to know is if there are aftermarket hubs that fit our bikes setup, or if it is possible to get just the hub from a dealer. This project is just in the idea phase but thought I would try to get a list of things I need and cost together to run by my wife (who is an accountant, but also bought me the bike). Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Seabass,

The problem you'll encounter with a Speedmasters is that the cast wheels need to be replaced with America hubs. Then you can have a wheel shop like Bucannan lace-up some new rims. Also, you'll be giving-up the RH brake rotor using an America front wheel. I'd look into lacing some generic V-Twin hubs/wheels... the front being a dual rotor model. Whichever way you go, it wouldn't be cheap or easy.

Say I went the V-twin way, what considerations do I have to take into consideration? Are their sizes to fit the forks or anything like that; again I have not idea about this at all (I am sure it is showing). I know it is going to be expensive that is why it isn’t happening right now.
Thanks,

Sebastian

Thunderbirds use the same hubs as us. I have a Thunderbird wheel, direct replacement, but single disc, the T-bird sport uses dual discs, but 17inch rims... so probably a cheaper rout would be a used T-bird sport hub... You know it will fit.

Thanks for the tip Benny. Hey, how far out on the island are you? I grew up in Bay Shore but haven't been back in like 15 years at least. All my sisters want to move back just can't afford it, you have to be a millionaire just to live within 3 hours of NYC now a days.

When I moved here I lived in Sayville now I live in Bellport tecnhically, but the gas station across the street is in Yaphank and the crocery store around the corner is in Medford, so I'm sort of in between the LIE andd Sunrise. Actually a few decent roads out here!! Tell you sisters they can trade dwellings with me anyday!! I want off the sandbar...

Hey, you guys must have one or two good rides out there between the bumps that the glaciers left. I live on the flats most mundane piece of rock in the world. If you are luck you can find a river road that will flow with the water for a couple of miles but the closest one of those for me is 20min at least and it doesn’t last that long. And you have the ocean, we have a lake that you have to have a death wish to go in, how I miss Jones beach.

I was at the dealer saturday trying to get a t-bird sport hub but triumph doesn't offer just the hub. Why they don't is a mystery.
Sebastian, if you find some alternative soon, please contact me about your speedmaster rim. Mine got bent in a wreck and i need something quick. Charlie

You can buy a TBA rim but it's 400 bills...

I used a Tbird rear rim. Its 16 inch and forty spokes. I got it off of ebay for $75. You can also check Triumphrat.net There is classified section for the T-birds.
They are the exact same hub as the BA uses. I used the stock tbird hub and spokes and bought a 5.5 inch wide Excel rim from Buchanan($350). You'll need to go 5.5 because a 200 series tire won't work on a 3.5 inch rim. You can take the hub and rim to your dealer they will lace it up for you. If you want to stay with the stock 15 inch rear wheel, you need a 15 inch rim and spokes from buchanan. You will spend at least $500 for a new rim setup not including the tire. Let me know when you start if you have any questions. I've been through it and I'd be glad to help you through it too.

Fryguy.

Man, you must be fast because you were haulin' A$$ when I passed you back there. . .

You guys need to get on ebay more often - Brent just sold an America rear hub/rim assy for less than $100 IIRC. He listed it for $20 the first time and it didn't sell.

Stewart ....... "It's outside your field of expertise." "Poppycock normally is."

Hey thanks fryguy, I will be looking for some help (hopefully in the near future). I love that back end, and the color scheme is nice to say the least.

Stewart if you ever see a hub on eBay again feel free to pm me. Every time I look all I see is the 60’s stuff. Must say that I don’t look enough but will start to look more often now.

Thanks all,
Sebastian
