Anyone out there running a belt conversion have it settle into a slight hum/vibration through the seat at 55-60 mph? Mine does a little and thought I might inquire as to why perhaps?

mine is a squeeeeker. and I can't make it stop. but a humm and a vibration in the seat could mean a mis-aligned belt or a loose belt. I would look into it befor you cause any damage to the belt.

Mine's a squeaker too, especially if I don't get the rear wheel adjusted straight, down to the millimeter or less.

I used regular bar soap on the edges of my old Honda after-market belt drive to quell the squeaks. A little rub on each edge will do ya...

The Scootworks guys have a discussion about this on one of their web pages and it has to do with a harmonic vibration from not having the belt not quite tight enough. I don't remember all of the parameters but they implied that it would shorten the life of the belt if left unattended.

Do I hear the faint coughs and ramblings of one who ribs us about chain wax? Pat loves to wrench. Just ask Matt.

Thanks Ed, I'll look into the tightness! I have about 190 miles on it now so it may very well need to be tweaked prior to my departure for GA. I'll keep everyone updated on my progress or degress as it may be. Mark

The recommended belt tuning procedure went something like this:
bike up in air on lift find the tightest spot and mark the rear wheel, then put the bike on the ground with the rear wheel in that spot and sit a similar rider on the bike and measure the belt in the center of the span for 10 lbs deflection.
I actually was told by a "belt drive" pro that a properly tuned belt will play a "D" note when plucked so I used my guitar tuner, set mine up that way and never had a problem after that. Full disclosure: I sold the bike after 3000 miles so I can't testify to long term effects.

Ed, I tightened the belt a bit more and it resolved the issue. I appreciate your help! Again, thanks.

Same here! Just tightened it up and took it out and the squeak was all but gone.
