Ok, I have a 2007 America with just over 120 miles on it and the headers on both sides are really blued. I was told by my dealership mechanic that the headers are supposed to blue 12 to 18 inches. I got out for my first ride of the year last weekend and when I got home, I noticed the actual pipe underneath the heat guard is kind of a brownish gold, should I be headed back to the dealership to rejet and raise holy ****** or is this really normal like the mechanic said?
It's like chasing a race horse on steroids!!!

If you get the bike jetted right you will have little or no bluing. Bluing can be cause from a lean condition or from unburned fuel in the exhaust, more commonly the former. Our bikes should show much less blue than the standard Bonnie since our bikes have a double walled exhaust and the std. doesn't.

Yes the AI being removed does lessen the bluing but you need to get the bike jetted right too.

I can only suspect your jetting is bad or you're riding that thing like a raped ape - BUT, I'M ABSOLUTELY SURE YOUR DEALER IS FULL OF SHITE. I've got over 25,000 blue-free miles with the AI intact. I'll leave it that way forever and a day just to prove the AI ain't the root cause. I'll agree it can contribute if the tuning ain't right - BUT THE AI AIN'T THE SOURCE

the way i did it was by removing the air injectors with in 500 kilometers the bike was not run in yet the bike now has 8000k and the pipes are as shiny as when i got her oh and for those of you who might say well i don't ride it hard enough, well i throttle her every time i'm on her on my way home i take her up as close as poss to top speed 3 years on and i have no rust and my pipes are lovely and shiny chrome no change on jetting, snorkel removed, AI removed

This will help a lot, http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/ai_removal_kit.htmlas will a set of jets 1 or 2 sizes bigger. Theses engines run as lean as possible, maybe a little leaner, to meet pollution requirements. A set of less restrictive mufflers will also help since the less time the hot exhaust spends in the pipe, the less heat will be transfered.

Just remember if you remove the AI you are hurting the environment. So you have to make a choice, the environment or blue pipes, I chose having blue pipes.
'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

No you're not. What you're doing is just recycling exhaust and a minimal amount at that. Stop drinking Al Gores cool-aid.

It's just burning unburnt gas vs allowing it to pass thru. Either way you're still using the same amount of gas.
