Yes... and then some.
I have America cables and the SM's risers plus aftermarket handlebars that come up around 2" higher than the stock SM handlebars (which are flat) on my SM. So, assuming that the SM and the America have the same base on which the risers are attached (the English name for it escapes me) then you should be left with an extra 2-4 inches of cable in each case.

I have the Speedy handlebars and risers on my America. I have 2-3" of "extra" cable, but I just kind of tucked it behind the windshield. I think the Speedy risers are 4" high. Make sure you get the bolts with the risers, as the America bolts won't work. The top clamp is interchangeable. Oh yeah, I love the bars - much better for me than the wide America bars.

thanks so much for the info, could you confirm the riser height,is it 4"? Also, I beleive someone said the speedy bars are 31" wide, is that correct? I am just trying to get a feel for the change in riding position. Thanks!!

I just went down and measured, and the riser height is 4" and the bar width (end to end) is 29". I seem to remember that the Speedy bars are about 4" narrower than the America bars, but I could be wrong. I find this setup a lot more comfortable. I used to get a wicked pain between my shoulder blades after 1/2 hour or so, and I don't get that any more. The riding position feels a little more agressive and the bike seems more responsive, but I do notice a bit more vibration, probably because of the taller risers.

Yes, I like the riding posture a lot better! I'm not all that tall, so I'm still a little stretched out, but I'm definitely getting used to it.

How about going the opposite way? I am getting hold of a set of America bars and risers for my SM, will the cable length be sufficient? I am after a wider bar because the SM flatbars give me that sharp pain between the shoulder blades, exactly opposite to you Kathy

I fortunately have been given a set of America bars and risers today. Tried them and need to either re-route or get a longer front brake line for a start. Then the throttle cables have to be moved over to the right side. Didn't have the gear for a brake line bleed so will get all sorted next week, bugger this, the weekend is for riding

Unfortunately it doesn't work the other way - cables are too short. You might be able to re-route them, but I think they're just too short. It would be a good excuse to get some of those nice braided cables though!

Braided cables are the way to go. They look great and that way you will be able to get your America bars on.

So if I go the braided and am going to put the stock America bars on my speedmaster then I should be able to quote all the stock cables for length ??? There seems to be enough electrical wiring hidden in the headlight shell, so I would need to get the two throttle cables, clutch cable and front brake line. This is more of a question than a statement

If you order from Bellacorse he's got the lengths already made out for the America, brakes and cables. Just remember to talk to him about the brake lines because you will need an extra one for the front.
To get a chrome speedo cable you've got to send the original to Barnett. I had mine done last winter and their turn around is fast. They have to take the end closest to the front wheel off and put it onto the new cable. Also be sure to snug it back up tight, mine came loose on the ride down to Georgia this year. Their inside cable is brass and the end snapped off when the cable came loose. It wasn't a big deal since I just pulled out the broken one and replaced it with the original.

I'm away at work on nightshift at the moment and seriously missing riding the bike. So as therapy I conjure up thoughts of what I can do with it on my return. I have the America bars and want to use them along with the tall Speedmaster risers. Can anyone advice if stock America cables would be long enough ?

They might do, but probably not. Some bikes had a bit longer cables and you might be able to do that, you'd just have to try it. The worst that can happen is you'd have to put it back for a while 'till you get longer cables. By the way, you should take a look at Thunderbird Sport risers. It looks like they will bolt on and they would look great on an America or Speedmaster.

Glad the risers worked for you bagirl. I have to say tho I like my duece riser's much better than I did the speedmaster riser's. Glad mine found a good home tho.

Hi, i,m new to this forum stuff so forgive if the etiquette is not right. I recently put the America bars on my 2005 Speedmaster. That was the only change, all wiring and cables worked as is, the risers stayed as the bike came. Olddesertrider

Thanks Trash! The risers (and bars) are great. I'm much more comfortable now that my arms aren't out so wide. I'm not sure this will be the final solution but it works good for now.
