Remove the bolt behind the seat, lift the seat up a liitle & pull backward.

Get you a knurled seat bolt . Lots of vendors sell them , Brent here sells them . Makes it lots easier to take the seat off .

... first remove the positive battery cable....
If you have a pillion seat, or a fender luggage rack it has to come off first. Otherwise, remove the bolt behind the seat and pull the seat back and up. There is a tab that slides under a slot in the frame behind the gas tank.

If it was a Speedmaster, I'd suggest going to the vast factory supplied tool kit, and selecting the proper seat removal tool.

To remove the America seats first remove the bolt behind the pillion then push the pillion forward and lift then pull back it should slide off the grooved bolt that holds the front. Then you need to remove the grooved bolt since that holds the rear of the front seat. Then just lift off sliding it back slightly.
