Hi all, I'm considering putting on a windshield to make those longer rides a little more comfortable. I'm not looking for anything permanent as I like the looks of the bike as it is now. I see they make them that bolt to the handlebars and wondered if anyone has used this type, I did a search and noticed most of you used the type that mount to the forks, Must be a reason. Any opinions or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Craig

Windvest Hands down! Expensive as nuts, but well worth it.

The fork mount windshields are much stronger. For the money it's tough to beat Memphis Shades. Use the fork mounts for the Suzuki Marauder 800. It's a quick release mount which is nice. You can buy from Global Cycle in Texas for about $250 for everything. You have many choices with Memphis shades also. The sport shield, Memphis Slim and Memphis Fats.

Thanks everybody, I'd kinda been leaning toward the Memphis Shades or the SlipStreamer from what I've read before but I wanted to get ya'lls opinions on them first. There is a Memphis shades dealer in town here and I'll check them out first, but I do like the price of those Slipstreamers though. Thanks again for your help. Craig

CWW,
I have the Windvest and I had the Slipstreamer. If you want something you will use sparingly or just less than half the time you ride, get the SS-10 Viper. It works just fine and is easy as pie to remove , no tools needed. However I will bet that just as I found out you will like riding with the shield on and won't want to remove it.
If that is the case go with the Windvest, immediatly and save the $65 extra you would speend buying both.
I had never ridden with a shield and found that with the riding position on our bikes it is WAAAAAAAAAAy more comfortable with a shield.
I gave the SS to my neighbor and he has been very happy with it for a while now.
Food for thought.

Fisher- I too have been looking into getting a Memphis shield just for long trips. I was wondering if you could post a pic of the bike with the shield off so I can see how it looks with the brackets still on. I have seen alot of pics with the shield on but don't remember seeing any with the shield removed. That's one reason I haven't gone with the Triumph Roadster shield, I don't like the looks of the brackets after the shield is removed (well that and the $)

I've never been a fan of windshields but they are worth their weight in gold! I plunked down $65 for the slipstreamer and it is very good. It takes the wind off of your chest and face but you still know you are on a motorcycle.

I just put on a GIVI A600, it mounts to the handle bars, very simple. I think the lines of the windscreen match the bike, if your going to have to have one one this isn't so bad. I have to take the higway to work and this takes the pressure off my chest. I've just put it on this week and am still tweaking it a bit to find the best position. There's a picture of one of these in "JJ" photo's The mount is very solid and the screen is steady as a rock. You can remove it with an allen wrench in a few minutes and the brackets that may or maybe not left on the bars are rather small. Let me know and I'll take some pictures.
