Just got done changing the oil for the first 500 miles. When I was done I poured the old oil in to the gallon jug that the new oil came out of. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE THERE WAS ONLY 2 QUARTS IN IT? Now I am really worried!
1. how much damage was done running the bike on 2 quarts.
(yes I did check the oil port and there was always oil)

As long as your pick up was still in the oil and you had oil pressure you didn't hurt anything but I don't advise doing that again! If you have trouble checking your oil , place a mirror against the garage wall so you can see the window while sitting on the bike holding it upright. Bennys idea if I remember right.

Wow, you’re are lucky, did you consider oil from the filter? I guess I'm lucky I kneel on the right side of TBA and pull bike to straight up some times my hart races, it may take 5 to 10 seconds b4 I can view the oil level in sight glass. Also I have found out TBA seems to run better with site glass indicating to full level BY THE GUIDE LINES STAMPED ON ENGINE. All the Ford cars I've had were similar if not full would not run as well, neither will TBA. Good luck just keep asking questions on this web site and you can’t go wrong. Of course most times you need to sift through lots of differing advice. RIDE SAFE.

Ist timer here, be gentile. I was told by dealer to put all 4 litres of Triumph oil in my 06 America. Should I dump a little?

The mechanic at Hermys told me the same thing, I don't think you need to dump any but you could if it makes you feel better.I don't put the full 4 in, I always have a little left over.

I bought one of these telescoping mirrors:

to check my oil. Works perfect.

A friend of mine at work just bought a new car and asked the salesman if he could throw in a few free oil changes. The salesman replied "No problem, it only has a three litre engine so I'll give you four free oil changes. That's only one case of oil right?" In reality the new car takes 5 litres per change. Sometimes you have to consider the source of the info?

Personally I drain my oil while the bike is on the side stand. Spin on a new filter and tighten the drain plug. Put her up on the jack and fill. Easy to see the glass and I don't have to hold the bike upright. With my luck I would have it fall on me.

A piece of 2 x 4 under the side stand levels it out. Check the sight glass. Don't pull it over on top of yourself.
