Lovely and I'll bet invigorating as well.

Looks like a Ricola commerical to me, Nick.

Nice pics!

What's the altitude of that mountain?

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

It's those Swiss cough drops that until recently they used to advertise on the TV(at least over here) showin' a swiss mountaineer standin' on a mountain top and blowin' his own horn.

(and no...if you're wonderin'...I'm NOT swiss)

Nice pics and slide show Nick. Climbed Snowdon when I was younger but last couple of times have taken the train up and walked back down!
Apparently on a clear day you can see Ireland but I never have! Rare to get that good visibility up there. We once came down in fog and managed to loose the main path, ended up taking us 8 hours and probably as many miles away from our destination...

3560ft is considered a mountain where you come from?

I found this after 2 mins on Google - the definitive answer ... er ... sorta!!

Quote:

Unfortunately, there is no universally accepted standard definition for the height of a mountain or a hill although a mountain usually has an identifiable summit. In the United Kingdom, a mountain must be over 600 meters (1969 feet) or over 300 meters (984 feet) if it's an abrupt difference in the local topography. However, some hills can be called mountains and some mountains can be called hills - it's just a matter of the original name given to the relief.

Well, I also lived in Colorado for a decade and they put Montana to shame with several 14k summits.

54 14,000 Mts in COlorado With more towns over 10,000 than most places. i have climbed 12 of them hope to get them all before i get to old to walk. Took my 2 daughters up 2 of them when they were 4 and 6. You have to be on top by 11 am or you stand a chance of lighting strikes at 12. Nice views from the top. I would show some photo' just not sure how.

upload you photo to photopost (on this site) or photobucket (PHOTOBUCKET PUTS LESS STRAIN ON THIS SERVER I THINK).

copy the direct link and insert it between [IMAGE ]URL[/IMAGE] (WITHOUT THE SPACE BETWEEN E ])

What heights do you usually start those walks/climbs at?

Thats a cool slideshow you posted on you tube.

Though a "Real" adventurer would have taken the Triumph up there and got a picture of the bonnie on the top of that little hill.

hang on, Walk, ive head of that. Is that where you use self prepelled physical energy to move your body from one place to another. I got tired just reading your post

Nobody walks around here, they dont ever have side walks in my town. If you don't have a car or m/c you are screwed. I've even got a drive thru Liquer store.

(looks like those poor ol' folks in Tennessee have now been corrupted by us heathens out here now too!)

Let's see, I'd have to ride down about 2400 feet to get to 3560 . I' lucky enough to live within 50 miles of 15 "fourteeners" (14,000ft+ peaks) haven't tried to ride up any of them yet.
