I typically just change mine once a year in the spring. Of course, I only put 4000 on my car last year and plan on even less this year.

I run Syn, and I change it every 5K at the same time I get my tires rotated. Most late model cars have recommended change intervals of 7500 - 10K miles, but I still don't feel comfortable going that long. One of the beauties of synthetic oil is that you can over run your change interval and still not have to be concerned too much about it.

I change mine every 5000, same time as the tire rotation. The other day i was in the stealership getting some work done and they told me every 10,000 was fine for my car.

But im a creature of habit, so will stick with the 5000.

I try to keep it at 4-5k between changes, but I admit I'm not strict enough about it. 84k on an '04 Honda Element and so far only tires, oil, and brake pads. I usually get whatever syn oil's cheapest at the time. Last time it was Pennzoil, $20 for 5 quarts at Wally-World.

I usually change mine around 5,000 miles. Most of my driving is highway miles. I have a 2001 Civic with 220,000 miles. I was an 3,000 mile oil changer but changed to 5,000 miles. Must admit that it did bother me a first but now I have no problems letting it go to 5,000 miles. With this being said I still change the oil in my wifes van at 3,000 miles mostly because she does more city driving as opposed to my highway miles.

I use Mobil One extended performance, $27 for 5 qt container (Mobil One synthetic $25 5 qt container)at Walley Mart, 1998,Taurus has 205150 miles, I drive car for work, changing oil every 3000 miles became a pain in the a**, once a month. I do change the filter after 6K, change oil at 12k, oil is advertised to last 15k.

Dealerships say 10K is fine, because the sooner your car turns to crap, the sooner they have a return customer.

Oil change shops and auto parts stores recommend every 3K, because they want a return customer sooner as well.

Hmmmmmmm...

thanks for the replys guys, i fully understand why it is to change conventinal oil every 3000mi, but have wondered about syn. i started puting it in the Montana and have never used it in a car before. so it looks like the consenses seems to be 5000mi for a change. i guess 5000 it is then
