I am abou tto remove my AI and it looks like a deep well socket still wont be long enough to fit. What did you all use to remove the AI from the head.

Thanks

Stevie,
I actually cut my tube with a Dremel so it was short enough that my deep well 13 mm fit over the stub. Since it's downstream of the exhaust valves I figured the filings would just blow out the exhaust pipes.

I used a 13mm offset ring spanner.

Perhaps I shouldn't say anything as I also sheared the tubes off in the head, although that's probably more to do with my (non-existant) mechanical aptitude rather than the spanner.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Thanks for the quick answer.

I was able to put a wrench on mine and grab it just enough to turn it. i would think long needle nose pliers might work too.

I used a 6 point line wrench to break it free and then a normal open end to turn it out.

I took a cheapo Harbor Freight 13mm box wrench and ground a slot through it wide enough to slip past the tube. I wanted to leave the AI parts intact in case someday down the road the tree huggers win. I wouldn't want to have to "buy" an AI system.....

That's why I kept both of ours intact too. I bought my bike with it already removed but asked Hermy to give me one with it when I bought it and When I removed Wendys I didn't damage anything. I kept both our air boxes too for the same reason. Gutted the pipes though all I have left is a set of short TORs extra.
