I picked up an 07 SM in February and have managed to get 1800 miles 1n 2 months (easy to do in CA). I've had the break-in mainteance done. Love the bike, but have found my first nuisance that I want to check out with the more experience owners here . When I stop at a signal and place it in nuetral waiting for the light, I find it won't go into 1st with the 1st try. I often have to double clutch to get it into 1st. Has anyone else had this happen and what's the remedy? The dealer looked at me confused when I asked him Saturday at the shop.

Never had any problem with that, maybe clutch cable needs to be adjusted? Even at that should go in but with a clunk.

I hope you have all traffic stopped behind you before you do this. Going to neutral in any other situation at a light is begging for a rear ender.

Bring your bike to your dealer and demonstrate the issue.

When it does kick in does the bike lurch a bit?

Play with the clutch, see how far out from the grip it grabs. If it grabs in very close adjust it out a bit with the adjustment screw on the cable stop. If it is adjusted well and grabs 1/2 way out or so think about idle speeds. 1st is not synchronized so at high RPMs it may not want to drop in.
