Heres a couple of pics I have on photobucket, basically I have removed the console and welded in flat sheet to give a clean look: If you can weld / fab metal this is a good option.
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

Thanks, I love to look at this bike and it's nice to see it again.

+1
That sucker is CLEEEEEAN!!!
The tank, the blacked-out forks with gaiters, the rear fender and that old Lucas style tail light(among many other nice touches) are perfect!!!
I'm THIS close to blacking out my forks and putting gaiters on 'em too, and every time I see this bike I KNOW I'm going to do it real soon.
I'm also looking to find a set of old style covered rear shocks in black to balance the look. Does anybody know where I can find a set that hopefully also has an adjustable rebound setting on them besides the usually pre-load adjustment?
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Maybe these Hagons from Bella Corse would fit the bill

Thanks Ed. Those puppies on the far right of that picture are the shocks I've been lookin' for! Bella Corse, or course! I knew I had seen those somewhere and so I checked the Works and Progressive websites, but neither of them had those particular shocks. And even though those may not have the rebound adjustment I was kind of looking for, ANYTHING is better than these stock shocks that come on our bikes, huh?! Thanks again!

Yeah, I kinda thought the black covers were just the ticket for you. You're not going to go wrong with Hagons either so it's all good.

Chris
I want to do something similar with a spare tank, so have a couple of questions -
How have you vented the tank - are you using the original vent tube or some other method?
Also what are you using for a filler neck/ cap screw-in thread , again did you use the original or did you find replacements somewhere?
Cheers
Shaun

The front fender is a harley 21" softail fender. Cheap as chips on e-bay and all steel. You just need to re-bend the mount arms to suit (bend them out at the top, and then bend them inwards to the width of the fork tubes) and re-drill the bolt holes to suit the height you want. After it fits you trim 15mm off the bottom to remove the old mount holes and your good to go.
Note: the 21" fenders only just cover the width of the tyre, so you may get a bit wetter on your lower legs when riding in rain but your going to get wet anyway!
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

I brazed up the stock breather tube and used a Harley vented fuel cap, that way I could remove the breather hose that runs all the way down the frame.

I used a Harley fuel bung because they have the best choice of fuel caps, this is the one I purchased here on e-bay from Debrix cycles incase the first link is sold before you view.

I dig the changes you've made, Chris. You've really made your bike distinctive!

Dude, I love the look of the blacked out front end! I've blacked out several parts myself on my 06 Speedmaster, my question is, was there any special considerations when you took the forks off. Would I have to replace seals or any thing? Again awesome scooter.

Oldroadie,go for the Hagon shocks. They ride much, muuuuuuch better than stock.I got the lower end ones for $194 plus shipping from DaveQuinnMotorcycles out of the east coast somewhere.I do not know if he still sells them.He was the US distributor when I bought mine this past year.I got ones that were 1/2" longer and all black. He ask your weight, etc. Wish I would have bought them when I first got the bike.Good luck.

Thanks, You will need to replace: 1. the oil seals, 2. the fork oil (slightly more than 1 litre which is annoying as they come in 1 litre bottles), 3. and the bottom copper washers. You can save your copper washers by heating up to red hot and then leaving to cool, but one of mine had a crimp in it so I could not save.
When powder coating you will also need to remember to tape up the inside of the lower tubes so that they are not coated, and either plug the fender mount holes or re-tap them with 8mm bottom tap.
Also it is a good time to lower the forks when you have them all apart, that is if you want to. Mine are lowered 1 inch.
