I love it

We had a case here last week where some numbnutz robbed a pizzea delivery guy and THEN put his gun to guys head. The pizza guy pushed his gun aside, pulled his own pistol and shot the SOB.

Pizza Hut has suspended him for carrying a weapon in violation of company rules and may yet fire him. I wish they all carried pistols, it would make the bad guys a lot more nervous.

Here in Iowa we are a retreat state, meaning we are expected to surrender our homes and property to the criminals who attack us if we can possibly make it out. Many states have adopted the "Castle Doctrine" under which we do not have to run away. Our legislature killed it last year on a party line vote. I'll let you guess which party voted against it.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Ouch!! That's what I call rough justice!
You guys have probably got the better approach...If that had happened over here the guy would have probably only been given a Community Order, sued for thousands and the Mama would unfortunately be serving the time...

i saw this a while back on the concealed carry forum,,, we do have the "castle doctrine" in mississippi, thanh goodness. i made a decision long ago that i wouldn't shoot anybody for stealing my stuff,, even if i caught them red-handed,,,i simply don't own anything worth taking a life over. but,,,,if i feel threatened with mine, or families,,,,,,maybe,, just maybe,, 35 years on a firing line might possibly pay off.

I'd have to agree with your thoughts on that, but turning said perp into a peg leg or one armed bandit would be OK

Looks like it's time for a boycott on Pizza Hut?

I have to side with Pizza Hut on this one.

It was their policy and it was known by the employee (presumably) that NOT having a firearm on store premises was a condition of employment. The employee had the obligation of either complying with company policy OR taking a job with a company which allowed carrying a weapon at work. Unfortunately, instances of workplace violence by employees has risen along with robberies, and most companies have weighed the liabilities and risks associated with employees carrying weapons and have decided to ban guns on premises. Other companies have decided that the risks to their employees from armed thugs mitigates allowing their employees to have a weapon. I would presume that those stores which DO allow employees to be armed do a background check, require a gun safety course to be passed, and also require a 'carry license' to have been issued beforehand.

liability, liability, liability!!!! if you think corporate gives a rat's-a-- if scores of employees are injured, they don't think about it. now let someone injure a jerk that just axe-murdered 4 folks and sexually assualted their grand-daughter,, THEYR'E LIABLE. employees are expendable, the bottom line ain't...rant over...

The problem is that they may as well put a neon sign on their employees inviting thugs to rob them. The wimps who make these decisions are never the ones delivering a pizza to bad areas of town and risking everything for minimum wage plus tips.

Back when I worked for FedEx they had a policy of no firearms in their trucks or stations. I heard however that they have armed guards at the main office. I think that any company that forbids it's employees to protect themselves, within the law, should also have a legal obligation to protect them and a presumptive liability if they are harmed in a situation where they could have protected themselves if they had been armed.

The department store where the murders took place in Omaha had declared itself a gun free zone. Therefore customers and staff were unable to return fire because the company had decided to disarm them. Both they and the people who decided Virginia Tech would not allow guns, should be held accountable for their decisions.

Gun Free Zone is just another way of saying Free Fire Zone to a nut who wants to go on a killing spree. And making a policy of disarming your employees in the field just makes it known that they are easy targets. When’s the last time you heard of a cop getting mugged?

I can't boycott Pizza Hut because I don't buy their product.
Too bad that some poor schmuck, delivering crappy pizzas,
who decided to save his own life is now looked at as a criminal.
Single Dad with a little girl, makes me sick to my stomach.

Update on the Pizza Hut guy
