Well..we had our last Drill Meet of the year on Friday. It was the Eastern Nationals in Macon, GA.
It was one heck of a long day that started on Thurs with the call..."Mom..I forgot shoes and name tag, need it by 830 am". So, up at 430 and off we go, just Amber and I to Macon. Left at 530, made great time and got there by 7. Checked in with the MSgt to let him know we had missing items, and went to eat. Sent Mark an erronious, yet humerous message letting him know that Amber and I were eating at the "Crack Bar"...poor abbreviation of Cracker Barrel. The kids at the drill meet got a kick out of that one...
So now we're at the drill meet and doing fine..1 kid nearly passes out, inspections are grueling, 1 team left inspection squawling, our guys didn't flinch..(we're just tough like that). Brad did IDR (knockout) and he was in the top 25% of over 500 kids from Maine to Florida. We left the drill meet with 3-3rd place trophies, 2-5th place trophies, and 1-1st place (our ladies color guard blew them away). Mark went ahead and left for home on my bike, Amber and I followed the bus back to hotel to celebrate a little with the kids then Amber and I packed it up and headed home. Finally got home around 1130. It was a loooooong day, but well worth it. Brad's getting practice rifle to practice and get ready for next drill season...We're looking forward to it.
