I've seen alot of you out there who have chopped your rear fender, and I've deceiced to do the same. For those of you who have tackled this already, can you give me some advice as to how you went about it. Paticulary, how you taped it off evenly before cutting, and what tools you used. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm going to do it eventually. I have been told a jigsaw, grinder with a cutting wheel, even a sawzall will do the trick. To get even cuts on each side I am probably going to use a cardboard template and line it up evenly and mark with duct tape. Good luck, would love to see how it turns out.
pain is temporary, pride is forever.

I used a very fine tooth blade on a jig saw, took it really slow.. I used the blue painters tape on top and underneath over almost the whole fender. Made a tmplate of what i wanted drew it out over the tape, fine tip marker. Started a lot lower than the final cut. Basiclly did a few practice cut offs first down lower on the fender. Worked out really well, a little sand paper on the edge followed with a little paint touch up and your done. Tried it on another fender with cut off wheels and grinder, not as good. Good luck

I made the usual pin strip plastic masking/marking tape to lay it out. To cut it i have a panel nibbler that runs on air. Real handy and it won't bend or chip the paint because it holds the fender from both sides. The best advise is Just do it. Good luck.
If it ain't broke...You ain't hitting it hard enough!!

Thanks for the advice! I'll be attempting the surgery this weekend and will take plenty of pics, of which I will post. I'm very excited and wife thinks I'm a geek as usual.
