Gone and did it, as long as I have been a superviser I have never let anyone go when I was mad, broke that streak yesterday. We have a quota and we are close, been more stressed then usual, and I have a new guy working for me that thinks he knows everything.Over the last few weeks when I have tried to coach him through something he didnt want the help, been at our store a whole three weeks so therefore he knew everything. Came to pass yesterday he was working a deal and he was on the wrong car for the persons budget and credit limitations. When I went into the office to try and get him out of the mess he created,he started mouthing off to me. He was complaining about another salesman stealing his guest and he was going to "take care of him" later over it. Hit the wrong button with me and I started yelling, now understand I havent yelled at a salesman in over three years. But man I even through the FBOMB at him. Things got worse from there and lets just say he left in a huff and unemployed. I have to say in highnsight I handled this wrong, but the result was correct one. I cant wait for this phone call to the owner saying how unprofessional I am, going to be a fun Monday There are days that I love my job, but this past week I really have hated it, maybe its time for a change

what you did wrong ( if it was you ) was take him on 3 weeks ago . what you did right was get rid of him . reading between the lines he's not the sort you need in the team.to say hes " going take care of him later " well to me thats a red flag to a bull.it would bring the red mist down with me maybe you should have stayed cool but it was him that started it .at only 3 weeks he should have been alot more concerned of his actions and attuide.your well rid and he is all to blame .so sleep with an easy mind you did ok.some people just aint all there .

Must be somthing going around. The OL came in from work and told me there was a brawl where she works that ended up with 3 managers being hauled off to jail. Never had that much fun anywhere I worked unless you count the army as a regular job.

I had the same exact thing happen to me a few weeks ago and I handled it the same exact way that you did. It turned into a mess. The only thing that matters now is if your boss stands behind you, if you were a bit hot headed in your approach, well deal with that next time. But it must appear to everyone that you did the right thing. You gotta admitt it felt kinda good, right.

I got mad at myself several times and fired myself in anger . I later cooled off and hired myself back . It's hard being self - employed .

Fret not, good man. In just a few short weeks a nice relaxing journey through the glorious Blue Ridge will make all that stress go away.

Just be grateful he was'nt union represented...I have to work around jerks like that everyday...They simply can't be fired, and the worst part is they know it...Let's see, we had 1 fired for getting caught stealing from the company, 2 fired for failing a random urinalysis, and 1 fired for failing to do a job assignment. You guessed it..the famous "Teamsters" got ALL there jobs back...So see, the grass ain't always greener...

There's no way I'm gonna fire anyone, I've only got one employee and we're gonna look at a broken sewer pipe under a mobile home tommorrow. Guess who gets the first crawl and look ! (Gawd, isn't there anything we won't do to pay for that vacation?!)

I enjoyed my three years as a car salesman. It was a lot of fun. I was at a local Ford dealer.
My current job 'might' be coming to an end sometime this year. The powers that be have decided to relocate the office so i will have to look for something else. The Genaral manager of the Ford store i worked at is now the F & I guy at a Jaguar, Range Rover Porche dealer. He said he would take me on as a saleman. They do not take many 'ups' most of ther sales are internet led. I will have to give it some thought. Not sure if i want to go back to a 100% commission lifestlye.

I spent 20+ years in the car biz...mostly in service...and it is a very, very stressful environment. Reading your post, sounds like you experienced a little righteous indignation with the guy and I can't blame you for losing it. Firing him was the best solution. I just hope the owner supports you and isn't one of those sons or grandsons of the founder. Had too many like that who were born on third base and believed they'd hit a triple. SteveB
