Hello...looking to purchase a Corbin Solo with Backrest. Are there any dealers out there who can beat the price listed on the Corbin Site? Or offer a good deal on shipping? Thanks.
Don

Only one I know is Dennis Kirk. Did a search on them with no luck. Ended up ordering from Corbin. Expect to wait 4 -6 weeks right now.

I ordered a seat via a dealer and the pillion pad/backrest direct from Corbin. I'd have to say "direct" was faster, don't know for sure about pricing however?? Maybe somebody else knows better.

Hi Don. There's only one dealer for all of Canada. It's a guy out of Burnaby BC, and his price was $150 more than the web site prices even though our dollar's par - go figure. I bought directly through Corbin but they'll need a US address to ship to.

I had a lot of trouble with their service, but the seat's real good.

You're right Steve...my dealer here in London phoned him and his price was $750's plus about $70's shipping [for seat and backrest] verses the Corbin site of $530's US plus thier shipping. Seems there's some bad blood between him and Corbin , so no deals here...just high prices. I'll go the US shipping route and my Son can pick it up 20 minutes away at a border store and Greyhound it to me.

why don't you call russell cycles and get a REAL custom, it would be cheaper than that,, and twice as good. look up russell day-long saddles on the web. just an opinion.

I pretty much did the same thing Don when I got mine except I had mine shipped to the house of another member here and he sent it on to me. The bonus of doing it that way is that you can have it custom made. The Canadian dealer only carries the basic setup for bikes.

Another note when ordering with Corbin, they use vinyl on the sides of the seat unless you specify that you want leather and I would highly recommend the backrest, it's easy to install and take off and really adds a lot of comfort to a long ride.

Thanks John...did you order the leather sides and is there a reason for going that route? Probably going to place an order tonight.

I just mentioned it since they don't and I didn't want you to be surprised when you discovered it.

Mine is with leather sides since I did a custom order of deer skin with a leather cut out image on the seat. They misunderstood what I wanted and put black leather on top. I've gotten used to it and realistically it does hide dirt better.

Good luck with your purchase. It's firm but gives good support, and the back rest solved my back problem. I'm quite satisfied with it - it did take a while to get used to though. I had to break my self in to the seat.

I got a quote from Corbin Canada on Feb. 28/08 for a gunfighter seat. The cost was 369.00 same as Corbin's website plus 99.00 for shipping with the note "Freight charges include all shipping fees from California to Canada, all border fees, and all shipping fees within Canada." 30 day delivery was quoted. This seemed pretty reasonable to me, better than going through a dealer and having them mark it up some more.

John/Steve/Jake.....Thanks for helping me out. I called Corbin last night and had a very good conversation with a knowledgeable young lady who was very patient with me as I had a lot of questions. I was at the Florida Corbin store a couple weeks ago and saw all the leathers, etc....so ended up picking the original black leather for the seat. The sides will be vinyl as she claimed it holds its shape better over the long haul. The seat surface will have the Deco Stitch pattern which hopefully will soften the seat up a bit. Picked a backrest with the Chrome Back Plate. Shipping was $30's to Grand Portage, Mn. Four weeks delivery time. So far, I've had a good experience with Corbin... hope it keeps up.

On another note....any of you fellows going to the Triumph Rally in Niagara Falls in early June.? I'm probably going to make my reservation today.

Jake /Steve....just thought I would say hello. This post should upgrade my status one notch. I'm a Calgary boy and know Lethbridge well as my Grandparents lived there all their lives. I live in London now.

Don I would love to go but finding the cash for it at this time is a little rough with me going to Georgia. I've heard good things about the rally and have met several of the members from the Inglis Rat Pack. I was at one of there meetings several months ago in the late fall with Willy (he's on this site as well).

If your interested in getting together for a ride sometime this year send me a PM and I'll gladly ride up or you are more than welcome to come down here although I have to admit the roads are quite boring.

Thanks for the invite John. Maybe we can meet half way and find some decent roads to roam. If it's Willy from Strathroy you know, I met him a couple years ago as I was looking for an America with risers to look at and he invited me over to see his. Had an email from him awhile back. I won't have my new Triumph for a couple weeks yet....waiting on the Corbin and a Clearvue Shield. I drove down to Triumph Detroit today to check that dealer out....nice shop and very friendly staff. Was able to pick up a few Triumph patches and a Signal Minder. Saw a lot of bikes on the road today. Take care. Don

That's the same Willy. Triumph Detroit is a very nice dealership and great staff there, I've been happy every time I've gone in.

If we do get together you might be riding the opposite way, I'm going to a meeting today on whether I take a job in Oakville.

Hi John...Doing a search on fender racks, I found your post..."
Looks the same size as the Triumph one and the Harley one that I used to have on my rear fender. I was able to strap a weeks worth of clothing to it." Which HD rack did you use and were you happy with it? Or, would you go with the Rivco one now? Thanks. Don

Any fender rack that fits a HD sportster will work. At the time Rivco didn't make one so our only choices were Triumph or the HD.

Now I would still pick the HD one but the only reason is looks. I still have mine sitting on a shelf....maybe Nancy will let me turn the bike back into a single seater again someday. Not likely.

Here's where I bought my HD Luggage rack. Looks like it's on sale. From what I remember of the packaging, I believe its made in your neck of the woods (Canada).

Here's a shot of what it looks like from the top-view (posted this pic originally for someone else wanting up-close shots of the paint-scheme, so please excuse its size)*

Tom

Tom...John....Thanks for the rack info. I actually found one today hanging on the wall at P.D.Restoration here in London, so I'm good to go. Do I need special fasteners for the installation....or is there something available locally? I will have a permanent solo set up as I always ride solo. Thanks again...Don

Nope, no special hardware just reuse the bolts for the pillion and the seat. But for looks I would get one of Newspeedmaster.com single seat bolts. This is it.
