Has any one ever made a back rest? I redid my seat and its very comfortable, but now I want some back support without having to buy a new seat.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated
Thanks, Ron

Yes, I have fabricated my own unique back rest for my '05 America...The city of Atlanta had sent some concourse chairs down for us to repair, that sat for like 3 months...I thought, hmmm, that's a nice angle for a back rest. I grinded off the ends and crossmembers, drilled 'em up to match my fender bolts, put 'em in a vice and bent them perpindicularly just to the right angle, had my neighbor Jay forge a cross member by melting old pistons and pouring the aluminum into a sand mold form we had made with MDF. Took 'em by my chromer friend and ex-high school classmate Sammy for a polish, ...stuck it all together with some boeing 737 lavatory mirror material and a "Triumph" oval emblem, and wah lah....you can see the pics in my photopost, which unfortunately down right now...But it has been on there almost 2 years, and you have to admit...its definitely "different"...

Hey Ron, I have what turned out to be a one of kind backrest. A guy in Texas made it as a proto-type, and never went into production. Photo gallery is down, but I could e-mail you pics if interested. I don't think it's perfect, but it may give you some ideas if you want to fab one.
Get in touch, Uncle Charlie

Dear Uncle Charlie,
Sorry it took so long to write back. Business had me away for a while and had no access to the web. I would love to take you up on the offer. Can you give me some ideas?
Also, I work in CT (Danbury), maybe a ride together one day?
Ron

Hi Ron, Too bad you missed my first CT Tech Day of '08. I have the seat/backrest off my bike right now as I attempt to ruin my motor(valve adjust). I broke a cam-cap bolt, and will try to remove it tomorrow. Give me a call 203-216-8827, or pm. Photo Post is down, but I could e-mail pics. Uncle Charlie

I did, but broke one when I had mistakenly set my torque wrench at 20nm, not 10.

Chy, does the pro-tac backrest get in the way at all, when you get on and off your bike?

Well yes .. but the benefits outweigh the drawbacks by far.

One more question and I'll leave you alone. Pro-Tac is not open on Saturdays or I would have called them. How much did it cost?

I'm thinking maybe 130 bucks or something like that.

PES : I just received an email back from them on the current price here is what they said: Price is $125 plus $10 shipping in the lower 48. It takes about 4 days to ship once we get an order. Harold
