Hi

OK, I am trying to disassemble my forks due to the bending of my fork tubes due to an accident. I'm working from the Haynes manual, section 5.13, step 4 and step 8.

In step 4 the Damper Rod Bolt will not come out but it turns freely.

In step 8, I cant get the tube out... maybe due to step 4 not being completed?

What simple fact am I missing here? Going to bed for now and will look at the cursed thing in the morning.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks
Brad

What Gregorz said.....You need a way to hold the damper tube from the top. I had an old rake/broom handle in my garage that had a pretty good taper on one end.
I pounded it down into the damper tube with hammer, held it with a big pair of channel locks and got the bottom bolt out.

Thanks guys, I will give that a try. Wish the manual would have had this tip.

Take Care

An air impact helps too.
