I have a 2006 SM, and I have an America solo seat ready to install to replace the stock gunfighter seat come the start of riding season in May. I want to get a replacement pillion, either the touring pillion ( part # A9701116 ), or the pillion that comes stock on Americas starting in 2007 ( part # T2304665 )which is wider, and softer than previous years. My wife can't ride more than 1/2 hour on the gunfighter. Does anyone know which of the two pillions is the most comfortable? And, any problems with mounting these America seats to a SM? Thanks
'06 Speedmaster, Long TORS, rest is stock (for now)

I switched my 2006 rear set to the new style 2007 seat on my TBA and my wife cant believe the differance. Much more comfort with the 20007.I cant say for sure but it should not be problem mounting on your SM

Was very easy to swap, I did it on mine. 1 bolt for the back of the driver seat,1 bolt for the back of the pillion, done. All the holes are there already, make sure you get the slotted bolt that the front of the pillion slips over and holds the back of the front seat.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but can someone tell me if the 07-08 pillion seat has thicker foam at the front? If so how much thicker? cheers John

It is shaped wider to give more surface area for the passenger to sit on, that in ltself will make for better comfort. It looks a little taller but not sure how much of that is padding.

I've tried searching (never have good luck with that) but couldn't find the thread. The new pad will fit the older BA's correct?

Cheers Dog, just checking as I'm about ready to put a deposit on a new BA and would like to fit a Utopia backrest, gonna finance it by selling off some bits from the T100 before I part-ex it. John

John, the new pillion is narrower and the same height in the front. The back is thicker (taller) and wider. I changed from the original to the 07 stock one and my wife also finds it far more comfortable. I chose the new 07 replacement over the touring one and made the right decision.

Thanks Bob, would you believe I phoned Triumph HQ twice and they didn't know what differences there were. They told me to contact a dealer, he didn't even know there had been a change and swore blind they were still the same. Should have phoned Thailand!!!!
