Just figured i would let you guys know that i have discovered this astounding fact. There are 3 guys staying at my house tonight that are riding thier Harleys from Norfolk to Key West. I was going to make them sleep outside with the sand gnats but one of they is going to be my best man so I gues i'll let them use my spare room. If anyone has some really good Harley jokes let me know. Oh yeah and one of them is towing a trailer with his bike. I thought that was a little silly, but that just me.

When you have so much crap that you need to pull a trailer with a bike, it's time to take the car.

Any respectable travlin' hog jockey knows a man can't have enough black and orange clothing and accessories. Your trailer totin' pal has a leg up on the other two. Hats off to all three and wish them a safe and enjoyable journey.

Thats funny. Just yesterday I was talking to a guy outside my dealer's who had a 883. He parked next to me. He only glanced at my bike but we struck up a conversation of sorts. I was making conversation and pointing out the bits on his bike I liked (new paint, recessed gas cap, etc.) but for every good comment I made he made a negative comment about the same, sort of like reverse appreciation. After a half hour of telling me he didn't like this and that, that and the ride, etc., he said that he really liked the bike!? He was going to trailer it next week down to his brother-in-laws in Georgia so he could get some early riding time. He was so engrossed about talking about his bike (negatively) that I couldn't get a word in edgewise about the good points on mine.

I'm really beginning to feel like I'm doing things wrong. In my lifetime, I've owned maybe 10 or 11 Harleys. Only trailer I ever owned (boat trailers excepted) was bought a little over a year ago and it's only been used to haul a tractor and some related equipment. Woe is me, all these wasted years when I could have been posing. Bet I'd still be "riding" my old flathead 80 if I had known to buy a trailer.....

Funny thing is,all kidding aside, there is a guy in the record books who rode his HD around the world. The kicker is he had no legs. True story, the bike and legs are in a museum, don't remember what museum any more though.

Is putting it on a boat the same as a trailer?

I think there is an article about that guy in the latest AMA magazine. I give mine to a buddy at work after I read it, so I can't check it out. I think the bike is currently in the AMA museum in Pickerington, Ohio.

What do Harleys and Pit Bulls have in common?
They both like to ride in the back of pickups!

Whats the difference between a Harley and a woman with lepracy? You could ride the woman with lepracy if you had to.

Here's a Harley joke, sort of.A guy at work is considering a new bike.Just got his license,he took the safety course. He has considered several bikes. He is down to a Harley Sportster. He really likes it.Get this sticker price starts some where around $6500 I believe he told me.Out the door it is a little over $10,000. I should be laughing but I am not.I think he is getting ripped.I guess the dealer is maybe laughing to the bank if he buys it.

He'll be much too sore to ride his $10,000 $5,000 bike by the time he gets out the door. He should get himself one of those hemorrhoid donuts.

My brother and his wife each have a big Ultra everything Harley. They average 8,000 to 12,000 miles a year on each of them. Of course, they trade them off every two years so they never get a lot of miles on them.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

One of the guys I road across the country on our Harleys with the last two years painted "nice trailer ******" on the back of one of his saddle bags.
This was on a Dyna by the way. No windshield either. 6000 miles in 13 days.
We ran into one guy who was riding a beat up old iron head Sporty from NYC to Sturgis then to LA.
Most of us do ride.
And we dont'care what kind of bike you ride either.
You're welcome to join in... if you can keep up. ;-)

What's so silly about that?

Back when I only had the bike (ie: no car) I did everything with the trailer, eg: groceries etc. Now I still use it for things like camping trips, scuba diving, fishing etc where I'd really prefer to ride but have to take a bunch of junk with me. I was even considering rebuilding the trailer to carry radio controlled airplanes, since it's hard fitting 7' long wings in my small car... I'll probably end up trading it for a station wagon or a pickup or something though.

Guess i'll have to eat my words on that one sorry Sandmann. I do join in as often as I can(the Navy doesn't give me whole lot of free time). The worst feeling i had was watching them leave and continue on thier trip to the Keys knowing i was only a footnote to them. I will be rideing to sturgis though, so silver linings in all the clouds still!

I was thinking about making one of those cheap trailers ($300 or less) I saw done. Can't remember if it was on here or not. But the one where you buy the trailer frame from Harbor Freight and a fiberglass roof carrier. Think it would be good for some of our longer camping trips. We carry everything strapped to our bikes right now.

I'm sorry, but pulling a trailer with a bike is wrong on every level.

Ed, tell us how pulling a trailer with a vertical twin improves it's performance and handling. Then maybe I'll get it.

A pocket size digital camera, a sleeping bag, a small tent, maybe 5 changes of undies and socks, 3 or 4 shirts and a pair of pants. Oh, a sample size box of laundry soap in case I'm stuck using a laundromat with a broken or empty vending machine.... Nope, I travel light enough that I don't need no steenkeeng trailer.
