I know that PhotoPost is down, but...does anyone have pic of the forks of a TBA WITHOUT the stainless tins on them? I'm just trying to debate whether or not to spend the dough on chrome tins, or the time to pull the forks off and remove them.

Yeah...sorry about that; the fork shrouds would be the correct part. Why didn't you remove the tops?

I actually bought the bike used without the lower shrouds, because my bike was lowered 2" in the front. I honestly think the bike wouldnt look right without the top shrouds. They there to make the bike a bit more bulky in the front. Without them the forks would probably look a bit too skinny in relation to the triple trees and headlight.
I will admit that ive never seen a picture of the bike without the upper shrouds, so I can only assume my opinion. I do like the look of the bike without the lower shrouds though.
If you wanna see a picture of my bike without the lower shrouds, i'd be happy to email it to you just PM me with your email address.

THAT, my friend, is a good looking set of forks. I think I might save the $200+ and take the shrouds off. Anyone else got any pics to solidify my decision?

The only thing I don't like, which is why I don't delete the shrouds, is how humongous the lower yoke looks without them.

That's why you put on gaiters and a tool bag. Gaiters protect the lower fork from rock dings, which can scratch your fork seals, and they had a classic look to the bike. My tool bag is ALWAYS on my bike, which covers up the lower tree. It carries essentials like a set of allen wrenches, a leatherman, a tire gauge, extra pair of sunglasses, small LED flashlight, small crescent wrench, cell phone, bungee cord, and a small size container of Altoids(did you know they're "curiously strong"?). So yes, you can have for AND function.

And you could always do gaitors top and bottom.

Good eye Ian. Was it Brent shirt sleeve that gave it away?

Get rid of the shrouds.Just extra wheight that does nothing.I liked them at first, then I got rid of them. That black plastic ring on the lower fork breaks off real easy with a small chiesel. Then later I got the gators. One day I may powdercoat the lower legs.

I think I might try the gaitors...but I'd have to lose the front fender.

I did gaitors, with powdercoated upper shrouds and lower legs, except I had to keep a fender to keep the police happy so I swapped for a minimal 21"softail front fender :
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

I am pretty sure that someone who bobbed their bike a year or two ago did that.

Where'd you get gaitors? I really like the look and I think I'd like to put them on my bike.
