I'm stummped. I can't find anything on a google search, and my friend argues that it implies that one that sports 8-ball decor means they like cocaine. I disagree. I need an explanation! Thanks!

8 Ball Roots are in rockabilly, but they branch out in different directions to include cool clothes and tasteless trash. 8ballwebstore That is their explanation. I always thought it had something to do with Rockers and Mods.

As far as I know it indicates a misfit, or non-conformist.
I learned all I need to know about life by killing smart people and eating their brains.

In the Army, 8 ball also referred to someone who was always the last one "to get it" and consequently was a screw up.

Better not..My OL has a butterfly tat on her belly, one on her right ankle and another on her left shoulder.
And back to the subject of this thread....anyone remember the movie "Cadence" wiht Charlie and Martin Sheen? Charlie played a misfit GI with 8-balls tattooed on the backs of his hands.

Everything traces back to the expression 'behind the 8 ball', a very bad place to be when playing pool. It is used to describe being in a difficult situation.

Mods wear expensive imported cloths, ride Italian motorscooters and listen to weird music. Rockers wear motorcycle clothes, ride motorcycles and listen to vintage rock music. Each group it convinced that theirs is the only way and the others are the scum of the earth, much like many religions.

I mostly remember that movie. Good movie with a sad ending though. When the eight ball tattoo was mentioned that movie was the first thing to pop in my mind.

Can not remember the name of the movie but it was Clint Eastwood army movie. They were going behind German lines to steal gold. Donald Sunderland was the crazy tank commander that Don Rickles called 8 ball.

The term 8 ball has since the 80s been used as a term for an amount of cocaine..But doesnt mean drugs dealers own the right to the term.

I agree with Greybeard on it. Goes way back and started with "Behind the eight ball". In Eight Ball, you cannot use the 8 as a combination to make your balls. If you are stuck behind it you are in a very bad position with little way out. Meaning a very probable missed shot will leave your opponent withe upper hand and you will lose. Loser and the symbol go together. Later in military is was associated the same way.
