The other day I made a plate for my inspection sticker and a "parking permit" and attached it around the forks by using the brake caliper mounting bolts. Immediately after this mod the front brake has become noticably less firm when squeezed, and the caliper itself seems to move. Has anyone done anything like this? Is the plate not thick enough, or do I need to mount it somewhere else altogether? Thanks for your insight.

Did you torque the bolts back down to 20.5 ftLbs?

I did not. Just tightened them w/ the ratchet. I'll throw the torque wrench on them tommorow when I get home. Thanks

Your new bracket is under the bolt heads, right? Is part of the bracket tightened against the body of the caliper? If so, it has the caliper in a bind not letting it sit correctly. It would be ironic if a safety sticker ultimately caused brake failure.

Yes it is under the bolt heads. That would be bad deal, however, I don't beleive any part of it is touching the caliper itself. (I'm at work and did not ride today)
something else to check though. Thanks

Alright then, the bolts were plenty tight.Lonzo was correct, ended up moving the bracket, w/o the bracket there the brake is back to normal. Guess it wasn't a good idea to put it there. Thanks again for your replies gentlemen.
