Once upon a time, there was a thread which spoke of replacing the dim bulbs, which backlit the indicators on the 'dash', with bright LEDs.

Could someone please enlighten me?
Thanks, as always....

Replacing the Dash Lights with LEDs is as simple as pulling the old one out (which is kind of hard cause they are deep in the light boot) and inserting new LED replacements, I found mine at Auto Value for about $5 a pair. The Turn signal indicator wiring needs to be updated however, Matt (a.k.a. Sandman) did an excelent job explaining this and giving instructions on the actuall wiring (and other really cool things) found on his website http://members.optusnet.com.au/~matt_l/
check it out.

He also says how to make your own... as I haven't seen ready made replacements in the UK (but then I could be looking in the wrong place...).
And if I can make them....but I did do A-level Physics and that included making basic electronic stuff and soldering....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

ready made replacements? If you mean LEDs that go in the bulb socket, They are out there. I don't know if they would fit under our lenses or not though. They looked kinda bulky to me.Here is what they look like. LED

As long as you're talking about the idiot lights, Jenks does them and although they're not cheap they're plug and play. Got em on my T100 they work well.

I'm using the WLED-WHP's. You will however have to "diode" the turnsignal indicator if you use LED turnsignals (as I am.)

I'm using these in the stock housings, as I like how they look. They're 1156 based, and extremely bright (5W Luxeon.)

I got mine from the 'super bright LEDs' site last year - and I have to say that it was the one mod that I've done with easily the best bang-for-the-buck..

about $10 for the bulbs and 10 minutes of my time...huge improvement in brightness of the idiot lights...

Super Bright LED's are awsome in the Oil Pressure, Neutral, and Turn Signal idiot lights, but is best to find a normal intesity LED for the High Beam idiot light, cause having a Super Bright LED there would really mess with your night vision I think, most of the Semi Trucks I drive have a piece of Electrical Tape over the idiot light so as only to see a small corner of the light casue the full ligh is too bright and that is all you can see at night.
Food for thought.
