Please don't kill me for bringing this old nag to the race again, but I'm seeking some opinions from folks that try to ride every day. We know the stock America seat is less than perfect. Do any aftermarket offerings really relieve some of that pressure across your butt? If so, is Corbin really the best? Have mercy on me!

Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

Ride to work every day, 55 miles round trip, and to different location one day a week, 110 miles. Switched to a Corbin, pain went away. Was a bit firm at first but has conformed to my shape nicely. Called Corbin for a few extra brackets that I could chrome, they shipped them at no charge. All in all quite happy.

Being afflicted with "gluteus minimus", riding on the stock seat on my TA would set my tailbone on fire after 50-60 steady miles of riding. With the Corbin, no more pain.
Is it the best??? No idea, but it's working for me...

I've had mine for 2 1/2 years now and it was the best money I have spent on my America! Totally relieves the tailbone pressure and I no longer have to take a break every 35 miles.

James,
Forget the Corbin - just go to home depot and get some bricks to stack up on your seat.
Get a Rick Mayer saddle - he is not taking orders in August since he is riding in the "IronButtRally". I bet no one from Corbin is riding 11,000 miles in 11 days.
Rick is an orthopedic nurse, saddle builder and long distance rider. His dad, Bill, designed the Russell All Day Saddle. Trust me here - I have a good friend with a BMW and a RickMayer seat. Corbin is a "wannabe".
Rick's seats = $376 in vinyl - $526 in leather for front and rear. This price is with a 10% discount for prepay or being a BA.com member.

I agree completely with Skillet. I've been riding on my Rick Mayer saddle for the past 2 years and it is well worth the cost. Rick's saddles are custom made to fit each individual rider not the one size fits all approach taken by the big name manufacturers. The only down fall is if by chance your measurements change the fit also changes. I recently dropped about 60lbs. with my butt size shrinking substantially so I have lost a lot of my comfort. I sent a note to Rick to ask for some advice and he said that when I think my size has stabilized just send the seat back to him for adjustment. Now thats service.

I switched to the Corbin and must say they are the best. when new its like sitting on a brick, but over a short time it becomes softer and fits your butt great. would agree with others here, was one of the best investments added to my bike. the workmanship is first class also.
One tip if you get the corbin seat, if you dont intend to have a back rest with your seat ask them to leave out the back rest bracket fitted in the seat, some people find they can feel this through the padding.

The Corbin on my BA is the 4th... the other 3 on 3 other bikes. I guess you'd say that I like them.
Dennis, however, is correct in stating the the Mayer seat is VERY GOOD. The original Russell's were the best... and BUTT UGLY!!
Also, Corbin is not an "off the shelf" seat. Each time I've bought one, I supplied them with my physical vitals; height, weight, inseam, etc., etc.

I bought my corbin back in late April and as others have said before, "it is the best investment I've made".

Now I can't say anything about the Mayer seat but I have to add that any improvement over the stock is fantastic. It comes down to what you want.

Corbin all the way!! Product quality & service is the best. I ride every day & have no pain problems. Takes a few days to conform to your "butt'. After that it's all good!!!!!

Young enough to care-less & old enough to know-better. Sooo how do you like me now!!! Whaaaat!!

I have lower back "isuues" that were very apparent after riding on my stock SM seat for any length of time. After 500 miles on the Corbin Gunslinger, the pain has all but disappeared when riding. It does take a few miles to break the Corbin in, but once it's done, the seat will fit like it was made just for you. MUCH more supportive than the stock seat - which is just a big foam pad with naugahyde on it.

I have no experience with other saddles, so I can't comment on those. All I know is that I LOVE my Corbin (now that it's broken in...)

I have a couple shots up in my gallery of my Corbin.
