Dealer says 4700 trade in? Could I get more selling privately?

Thank you!

How did you put 120k on it in a year?

I would say you'll always get more on a private sale. You might want to test the market before considering the trade. Maybe start at $6000 or $6500 and see if you have any offers. Then maybe starting adusting until you get interest. A little patients should pay off. Good Luck

50% depreciation in a year! They drop like a rock but not that far. Probably high 5000s I would say about 5700

Count the zeros again, that's only 12K, easy to do with decent weather.

Depending on the condition and accessories, if it hasn't been abused, you could probably get 5500 to 6500 for it if you sold it on your own. That's about what the dealer would ask for it. The thing is, dealers have to make enough after paying sales commissions to stay in business, so they can't afford to buy used bikes for market value. Even the 15 - 20 square feet of space the bike takes up while they have it for sale costs the dealer money. On the other hand, considering the expenses involved, you can sometimes pick up used bikes from a dealer at give-away prices because they can't afford to keep them around.

You can always get more on a private sale than on a trade-in.

Billy Mays says its good for 19.99, and he will add in two bottles of Ka Boom!

But, seriously, you MAY get more to sell private, but do yuou have the time to do it? How much more do you think you can get? And is the extra worth the work? It does seem a bit low, but not unfair.
