Went down today to start the paperwork on a 07 Bonneville at the dealer. The wife was we me and asked if I had test road an America. Well to keep her happy went home, got my gear and road the America. Well now I think I am going to get the America. Owned a 06 T-100 until last Nov when it got CBS (crashed by son, good news sons ok). Alway's like the look of the America and after riding it I think it's going to be in the garage next to my Tiger. Loved the T-100 but want to try something different. Got a good price from dealer and with the Triumph promo for gear it makes it even a better deal. After looking over forum it cleared up a lot of questions. Do have a couple however, who's brackets are folks using for throw over bags? Got some willie & max bags I used on the T-100. Also what is the lenght of the stock rear shock? Found the pn for progressives in the FAQ section. Rear shock replacement a must.
Going to mull over the purchase and let the dealer know on monday which bike I want. Leaning toward the America. In the meantime will be enjoying Florida spring weather in the morning on my Tiger

Those bags will work on the America. I have the Triumph brackets. Not sure of the lenth of shocks, I think they are the same as the Bonnie. Hagon or Progressive makes good shocks for our bikes.

I personally don't like throw over bags, they can damage the paint. I would get a set of easy brackets and mount up some bags that way. Love my Speedmaster. Wendy was looking at the T-100 type line too until she sat on an America then she decided to get one of them instead, she now loves the America. Does that make the America the girls bike and the Speedmaster the mans bike? Like HD where the Snotster is the girls bike.

The best thing about buying a TBA is the bike itself. You'll love it. The second best thing is you get to talk with us here on the site. Welcome, and let us know when the deal is done!

Out riding today with the wife and saw a TBA go by, first time ever seen one. Think that help clinch the deal. Going to call the dealer in the morning and pull the trigger.
Think I might go with the following freebies. TOR - short pipe Light Bar and don't know what else.

Hey RT. I have an 07 America with the easy brackets and Willie & Max bags. Very nice set up. The bags come off in seconds and the mounting studs leave a very clean look if ya feel like riding without bags. I agree with "The Dog", throw over bags rub the paint. Had a Honda Shadow with throw overs and would never do it again. Paw

Order the Hagon shocks the first week you have it.I had ordered mine through DaveQwinnMotorcycles. I believe he is located in Conn. Last time I checked his web site it would not work.So I guess you could check the back of the motorcycle magazines. The stock shocks are not very good. The Hagons take into consideration your weight, load, etc. I ordered mine 1/2" longer than stock. If I was doing it again I would go 1". They are quite smooth and cushy in comparison to stock shocks.I mounted my throwover bags to the bike with the Willy&Max universal brackets.I just bolted the bags to the brackets.Brackets ran me I believe around $50.I also used Willy&Max bags.I just cut the strap across the seat off. That was almost 40,000 miles ago. Enjoy the new bike.Good luck.Tell your son to get his own bike.

Stock length America / Speedmaster rear shocks are 320mm. You've got plenty of options for replacement:
Hagon YSS Ikon Works Ohlins Progressive Suspension
I opted for YSS and love them.
Good luck!! Jim

You can't do any better than EZ Brackets. And, you could do a lot worse with your money than spending it on an America. I have an '03 America and an '07 Night Train, and the OL has an '07 Roadking. Of the 3, the America is the nicest to ride, especially up into the triple digit zone.
