The company I flew for that laid me off was NOT given the the contract renewal but the hospital. The way it worked is we did all ground, and air transport for the hospital. it was the bread and butter of the company. Everyone there knows it is the only reason the company has done so well. Sure we did flights for the county, mainly 911 accident secen flights. However we had maybe a 20% pay on those. So unless they pick up a contract somewhere else ASAP, they will be out of business by the end of the year. I cant say I am sad, nor can I say I am happy about this. Kind of like the karma effect here. I dont know the reason for the rejection, but I am sure the new manager had a lot to do with it.

But yes i did get another job, I work for one of the local hospitals and have registerd for RN school starting fall of 09

Either they dumped everyone because they knew it was coming or karma won out in the end. Either way, you should take a ride by there to point and laugh.

It was serendipitous that you left when you did.

I enjoyed flying, especially rotary but the job security is just not there.

Change is good, somehow...everything happens for a reason...I was actually hired by Northwest Airlines back in 1993, shook my hand, said "welcome aboard",and that they would call me Monday for a start time....Never got the call..Man I was ******...Good thing, as everything here in Atlanta closed down, and moved to Duluth Minnesota, where I would have been laid off. I, personally dont care for flying. We carried 89 troops from Fort Drum, NY to Jacksonville NAS last Friday night in one of our new 737-700's, and was miserable...(except for the max power climb out of Hartsfield), but it's overtime, and I gotta take it when I can get it...

Its nice when you can see that "what goes around, come around" actually fulfills itself.

In a way I am happy but in other ways I am saddend by this. It was a good service, lot of good people work there. But when the new "manager" moved in and sent a lot of people packing so he could replace them with his own bad things had to happen. You just cant treat people that way and expect to be a industry leader. After all it is a people business. Maybe hospital managment saw the way the workers were treated and felt that patient care would suffer, or maybe managment tried to up the prices on stuff.. Or maybe it is that managment refused to do anymore more of the free stuff that we did. Things like working boxing, concerts, football games, and the like. We did it all for free. Well the company did the medics still got paid. However if we transported anyone we would bill the event and get paid. Who knows, not my problem anymore.

I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights from 7p till 7a make with in 500 dollars what I was making flying, and my RN school is paid for. Oh and I get 5 weeks vacation a year.. OH OH and my insurance cost me 1 dollar for medical, 2 more for vision, and 3 more for dental. Thats right I pay 6 bucks a pay check to cover Jessica, Jake, and my self. I was paying 275 a check at the other place.
