Has anyone committed to subject filter? At a $119.00 a pop, a commitment it would be. The manufacturer's ad is pretty good, but aren't they all? Looks like 10-15 oil changes to break even. Spotted this on the NTBF and thought I'd pass it on. Scott'sRegards,

Just so happens i looked at one recently. I live about 1/4 mile from Scotts in Montrose Ca. They look very well made and simple. I guess the value of these isn't as much in the savings as much as the performance. They supposedly capture much smaller particles and have a much higher flow rate. Whether this will really matter in the real world i don't know and doubt anyone that hasn't actually tested them could tell you for sure. But if i had to give them a yay or nay i'd go with yay if the price isn't much of an issue with you.

"This high tech filter technology is widely used in all types of auto racing including NASCAR, Indy type cars, Formula 1 and in the Aerospace industry where filtration is of the utmost importance." And where engines are rebuilt after every race . . . I'll stick with Wix disposables thank you.

I like the look of the filter and the fact that it is cleanable and thus reuseable, but filtering down to only 35 microns isn't that great. The oil filter that I use is rated at 94% efficiency at 15 microns.

Amsoil SMF103. Amsoil's motorcycle and car oil filters have the same efficiency rating.

Have you seen this site? http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/You might wanna read it. The amisol along with other MC specific filters are not recommended in preference of certian auto filters. How correct it is i don't know. But thats where i read about the Bosch filters that i use. Really informative site in any case.

That is very interesting. I have seen the test results for Amsoil, Mobil 1 and Purolator PureOne filters and per the ASTM test results the Amsoil filter performed the best in every category. The Mobil 1 filter was a very close second. The PureOne filter came in a distant 3rd. These tests were performed over a year ago and things could have changed since then.
My recommendation is use the filter you feel the most comfortable using.

Yea, thats why i said i don't know how correct it is. I still don't know what to believe, but for now i suppose the Bosch will do. In fact, i don't really know that there would honsetly be any real world difference from and one filer to the next. If i had to bet tho i'd say chances are that unless you are out to ride the bike up to to near record milage you probably would be fine with any of them.

I like the nut on the end of the K&N for eazy removal and generally like their products but I have no info about how the quality/function stacks up. I change my oil often enought that I'm guessing it doen't matter that much. Or does it?
