Nope, got the solid matte black, so if you find that checkered tape, pass it on over!

Here's one version of checkered tape for you. Looks like a "going out of bidness sale". I bought some other styles a few years back.

I got it local at that evil place called Cycle Barn in Lynnwood. I would never buy a bike there (everybody I have ever know has had a TERRIBLE bike purchasing experience there) but they do have a good selection of gear. It was only $99 and well worth the money.

You know, with everyone riding the same beautiful blue/white TBA and wearing the same brand and color lid, people are going to think of us as the Stepford Bikers or some bizarre cult!!!

ok...so how does this sound for March 8th (weather permiting). btw...if we do the 9th Champion Cycle probably wont be open.
We launch officially from Snohomish (British restauraunt for breakfast @ ?? am, Ill find out if when they open and if I know who will meet Ill see if theyll hold an area for us). I would say earliest would be 9am for breakfast and roughly a 10am ish departure.
We ride to Champion Cycle via Hwy 9.
Ill contact Champion Cycle and see if he has Ts (Celt...Ill see if he can sew a couple together for ya ).
From there we head south via Hwy 11 (awesome road, twisty and narrow so itll be a slower go but awesome. Well do a picture too at one of the pull offs). Then to Hwy 237 (for a nice straight away break) to Conor for a rest stop at Conor Tavern (adult beverages optional).
Then head back to home form there...options are:
* I 5 slab for the quick escape.
* hwy 9 for the not so quick escape.
* south on 532 thru Tulalip back to I5 or Hwy9 for a bit more scenery.

I have mapped it and its looking like 156 miles from Snohomish to Snohomish.

I know the title says Seattle but ALL are welcome and encouraged.

Soren...I know its a haul but you think some Portland riders want to join the festivities?

Folks,
Karen and I took a pre-ride drive today of the route I have planned out for next weekends ride. Here is a quick report:
Leaving Snohomish via SR9 will be a great ride. SR 9 is all two lanes but after Arlington to our turn off at Park Rd it is an amazing ride with some great road and some nice twisties. There were a couple slow speed ones but truly an amazing ride. We are all in for a treat.
From Park Rd to Champion Cycle is interesting. The road is good to real good but is paved with a rougher than usual asphalt. It starts out with some uneven surfaces but is more than ride able.
Leaving Champion Cycle via SR11…well…a treat and a heck of a ride. All two lanes, a bit narrow at times but well want to take it slow anyway. We passed a speed trap today and a ton of cops were out. Speed limit all the way and well all be good.
SR 11 at about Best Rd southbound to Conway is going to be interesting. It’s straight, flat and windy! It’s that or slab.
Conway Pub ROCKS! We stopped there for a beverage and that place is just going to be a hoot. I’m thinking a stogie and a beverage out on the patio. Some story telling and life is good!
From there it’s an easy hop to the slab or Pioneer Rd to Marine Dr back to SR9 and were back to where we started.
Howard at Champion Cycle was honored to hear that we have made his location our destination. He has a few 08’ and even had a new RIII Tourer. He has a good selection of jackets and a few Ts but no shop Ts.
I haven’t talked to anyone at Piccadilly yet. Ill do that in a couple days when we have a better idea of what the weather holds for us.

I mean weather....yeah that's it, pray for beautiful weather!! Ride sounds great Z, I'm looking forward to it.
I'll even wear one of my great Triumph t-shirts that I picked up overseas!

Let me guess, we'll meet at "Starbucks of Snohomish"?? That will be easy for me to find.

It's definitley going to depend on the weather. Unfortunately, even if the weather was sunny and 80, I wont be able to make it next weekend.

You might want to PM SSGRex and Brent Carnes (unfortunatley I have no idea what his user name here is, I know he's here lurking all the time).

Soren,

I wouldn't count on good weather (see pic),

If you're a motorcyclist in the Northwest, you must also be a "Minuteman" (a one-eyed sentinel of sorts).

Soren,

There is alot of new people here. It may be interesting to arrange another extended summer ride. Perhaps have all the Washington and Oregon riders meet at Stonehenge on the Columbia, then ride over to Galena Summit in Idaho to make sure the carbs are jetted properly for high altitude riding.

Zmilin,

Although there is alot of water underneth the bridge with me and the gang here at BA.com, I am somewhat of a blasphemer these days riding my Beemer. I think it was you I sold the Corbin saddle to - right? So, although I have sentimentality toward my "beloved bumble-bee bonnie," - these days I am riding the kraut-rig.

BTW, my Speedy's parts still operate on various Triumphs all over this world.

Anyway, if such a ride transpires, I know my place.

Soren and Zmilin,

Here's a quick little idea.

A ride that could be easily planned would be this.

1. After work on Friday Aug. 8th all Oregon and Washington riders travel to a motel of their choosing within striking distance to Stonehenge on the Columbia (perhaps the Goldendale area) so that everyone can meet at the Stonehenge Monument at, say, 9 in the morning on Saturday the 9th.

2. After all riders have assembled, we then all cruise through this wilderness area between Mt. Adams and the St. Helens all the way to Morton, WA., which is 135 miles. After riding on this stunning scenic highway, we would go to our pre-arranged lodging.

3. That weekend in Morton is their annual "Logger's Jubilee." It's a fun weekend and the town is overrun with motorcycles and other hoopla. So after getting up on Sunday the 10th and carousing around a bit at the "Loggers Jubilee," everybody goes back from wince they came - only to return to the daily grind on Monday.

This would be centrally located for most all Washington and Oregon riders, and would not require anybody missing any work.

What doya think?

that 250 rebel is agreat little bike for slow speeds and turns but flattens out at 60-65 top speed. She will out grow that bike before summer and will regret purchase(maybe!)The minimum should be 650-750 cc and she will ride long enough to love the bike..a shadow..a bonne might be too tall..take her to the dealers(plural)and have Her sit on a few.Has she riden yours yet!!If she buys something else and THEN rides yours..she may be a little upset that YOU let Her buy that other bike...It may become a win/win for you..It may become a loser out for you!!

Thanks everybody, she's really excited. She doesn't want to buy new or even slightly used right now (since all of our extra $$ is going towards our wedding in August) but we are going to go by Bent Bike this weekend. They have some really nice older cruisers with low miles on them that won't break the pocketbook. She just wants something that she won't be concerned with dropping while she hones her skills.

But yes, she thanks everybody here on the congrats and she is looking forward to meeting you crazy cats!

The Forecast
The weather forecast seems to change daily but I suppose that is simply a fact of life living in the NW. Neither Karen nor I will ride if it’s raining in the morning. We don’t have rain gear yet but it is on the shopping list. As of right now King 5 calls for rain in the evening, Weather.com calls for the opposite…go figure.

Joes, use to be G.I. Joes. It is an outdoor/sporting goods/auto parts store. They changed to a more politically correct name early last year.

Conwy...Im originally from So Cal (Shhhhhh!) and there were a few things that threw me for a loop when I moved to Oregon 8 years ago.
* GI Joes...an outdoor, sporting good and auto parts all in one...WTF?
* Fred Meyer...grocery, clothing, furniture, home decor, home appliances, garden, jewlery, electronics, dry cleaning, etc....all under one roof....holl crap...double WTF!!!
* ABC stores...you mean I cant go to Safeway and buy real alcohol..I can only buy beer and wine. Awww...CRAP! WTF!

but I love the NW! I dare never tell my friends how nice it really is up here. Dont want anymore of those freaking Californians moving up here taking our land.

Just checked the Weather Channel website. Their showing partly sunny for saturday. Things are looking good. I'LL still show if showers threaten.

WHOA!...close call today. Since things are looking up weather wise I figured there might be a bunch of other folks out so I called Picadilly Circus to see how things look on Saturday morning. Come to find the guy doesnt usually open till 10am. He knows the web site states 8am but he was pretty laid back about it.
He also told me that if hes going to have customers he'll open. SO...we are good to go for 9am and well probably get front row parking so itll make for a good photo op.

dude....you have to leave at 9am to get to Bham by noon...that blows! BUT we are very happy you will be able to meet up with us!

The better news...seems that the "showers" should be gone by the time we are on the road.

If you dont have heated gear go to Joes and get some hand warmers.

Celt,
Send Z your tel. #, that way we can keep in touch if you get delayed at the border (hint...don't bring any Haggis with ya!!) or get lost.

For what it's worth, I'll be leaving Kent bright and early as well, to try and get to Snohomish between 9-10 AM.

Looking forward to the ride tomorrow. I hope more people can make it ! Keep praying for sun and clear roads!
