I was giving my Speedy a really good cleaning and a wax job tonight and after I had everything looking good I did one last thing that was really stupid.

Without thinking, I wiped Armorall on the sides of my tires thinking hey, it would make them look clean. And it did. Then suddenly the horror set in! Some of it had got onto the edges of the tires and I immediately realized what would now happen when I take a good sweeping curve. I would essentially be on those slick edges and on my own self made oil slick. Where was my brain?


Anyone have any suggestions as to what to use to get the Armorall off? The only things I can think of is sand paper, or maybe a solvent, which could ruin the tires.

Possibly some judiciously applied brake fluid.... the old stuff - not the silicone stuff...

If it were me, I'd just ride it and do some low speed sweeps - the pavement should scuff it off rather easily.

If it was the actual brand Armour All , don't worry - it's water soluble . Other protectants are silicone based and they will come off with simple detergent . Get out yer soap .

Yeah..It's the regular Armor All brand. I'll get out the soap and water.

I read the fine print and it does say not to use it on cycle tires and bicycle seats..

I use Armorall on the sidewalls of my tires all the time.. makes them look really good. As long as it's not on the tread... no worries.
Just don't put it on the seat..

or the pegs, or the grips, or the shifter, or the brake pedal....

On the pillion seat might be ok, depending on what you're trying to achieve..

Coarse Scotch Brite pads.
Get 'em from the paint dept. at your favorite hardware store.

Use 'em on new tires too. Before you ride.

I use Armor-All on my side walls all the time. No problem. I spray it on a towel and spin the tire while wiping the sides (on my extremely useful Sears lift).

Why shouldn't you use it on the seats? I have since the bike was new - did it today.
