Hi can anyone help ?Purchased a solo seat off Ebay for my 2007 (2008) model Speedmaster part no. SA A9708127. Triumph only list this part number for the Speedmaster solo seat but the rear fixings are totally different to the standard gunfighter seat. Do I need any additional parts like the seat rail kit or is this the wrong seat for this year of bike ?

Graham, Welcome to the site!!!! Pay a visit to Brent at NewSpeedmaster.com Click Here You will need to remove the conical shaped post from your rear fender and use a solo seat bolt that Brent sells. You are right, it's a different mounting system. BTW I once had a white '60 Impala convertible. Nice car but turned into a rust bucket here in the good old Midwest.

Hi Tony. many thanks for info. I have bought items from Newspeedmaster before and they are good quality. By the way I love my 60 Impala. Its a 4 door sedan lowered 2" and running on Torque Thrust 2's. Also got a 59 Buick LeSabre- just love that era - fins and all! Unfortunately weather here in UK not brilliant this time of year so thet haven't seen a lot of use lately but hopefully Springs around the corner !

Hey Graham, As a substitute, if you can find a chrome or stainless bolt in a hardware store the parts list says it is a "SEAT MOUNT BOLT M8 X 30MM".

Hi Tony. I have ordered a solo seat bolt from Newspeedmaster. Looking at the conical post, do I remove the plate its fixed to or does the post unscrew from the plate ? If so is there a pre threaded hole under the plate ?

I beleive there is a threaded hole underneath the post and plate. Maybe someone with a Speedmaster that has done this will pipe in. Here is the exploded view Bike Bandit

You unbolt the plate from the bottom side of the fender (that is to say the bolts are on the underside of the fender, the plate is obviously on top!). Once removed, you will see the threaded hole under the plate.

http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcy.../m6898sch513035Levi said in other words, "When you remove the "lock stud" there is a nut welded to the fender."

Hi.all fitted now thanks to your help. Bit of a fiddle - had to raise rear mudguard for access to the nuts, To avoid doing this when replacing gunfighter seat, I've turned up a new conical post with an 8mm threaded end which will screw into the seat holding bolt hole. Just need to shim it to ensure the locating notch falls in the right position for the gunfighter seat catch. Now seats can be swapped in minutes.

Don't lose the nuts from the bottom! Save all the bits in case you decide to go back to the other seat. Just put them back on the underside of the seat, they will latch right on for safe keeping.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.
