Ok Triumph come out with the big twin.Since the oil companies have got us by the ---- now,how about bettering the fuel mileage of the Bonnevilles.Harley Sportsters actually get decent fuel mileage, stock anyway. With all this high tech fuel injection how about some real power and good fuel mileage from this new mirecle machine. We all need to consider fuel mileage more.Bikes are great to look at, but better to ride.

I'm torn between getting a R3 or spending the R3 deposit on the America and waiting for the new bike.

I went to buy an R3T & wound up with a custom 07SM bagger. I think I made the right decision. With the USD the way it is right now we might be waiting awhile for the new big twin. Keep in mind all those 08 Street Triples that never made it stateside.

If it was a guy with a 'boulder' hat, I guess we can safely and appropriately call him 'flathead' from here onwards.

You have been had. English sounding man in a bowler hat. You have just met Arthur Daily and he has made himself i nice little earner out of you.
Arthur Dailey, a little dogdgy maybe, but underneath. He's alright is Arthur.

If any of you boys over in old Blighty have any Minder on DVD please send it over to me. I miss that show so much. George Cole as Arthur Dailey was simply the best crafty crook ever to appear on a tv screen.

Could be the cruiser, although as I said in a previous post the Triumph distributor here said the launch was pushed back 6 months (redesign). Another model on the cards for 2009 is the Tiger Cub (675cc).
So, either the linked site is now outdated (IF the cruiser is really postponed) or, the linked site is updated (current) and they mean the Tiger Cub.

I am hoping it wil be the cruiser.
I have heard a couple rumors about the Tiger Cub. One rumor is that it will be a true enduro like the KLR with the 675 motor. The other rumor is that it will be just a smaller version of the current Tiger with almost no off road capabilities but with the 675 motor.

The Triumph guy told me it will be just a smaller version of the current Tiger with the 675 motor. I asked because I am currently looking at adding a relatively lightweight multi-cylinder (i.e. more than one cylinder) off-road 'capable' machine which is also able to achieve long distances to my stable (I'm looking south, across the water ... again! ).

they better detune the ****** out of the 675 motor if they're planning on marketing it as an offroad-capable bike.

I remember the Norton "duel purpose" P-11, have one infact. Had to be a brave man to hang to the 750 Atlas engine in the little scrambler frame going down trails.

True! But based on what the guy said (and his info has always proved accurate) it doesn't look like they are thinking 'off-road' as yet (perhaps a derivative at a later stage is my guess). I have personally discounted the idea of a Cub and am looking more in the direction of a GS800 or HP2 (similar weight).

Have you though about unlocking your DVD to play multi region? I googled "DVD hacks" and got 755000 hits - must be able to find your player somewhere? I did it with mine and can now play any region DVDs

Hey Mark, try VideoHelp.com for region hacks. I have an older Phillips DVD player I made region free with help from one of their hacks. All it took was pushing some buttons on the remote.

This is your correspondent Da Bedouin from CNNN (the Cripple Nipple News Network) ... the best motorcycle news team on television. Ok, so it looks like our source has proved to be accurate/reliable ... yet again. He was also accurate in telling us that the engine size was just under 1600cc (as I mentioned on another thread a few months back, along with the project name)... even though there were strong rumors about the displacement being 1700cc. Why this post you may ask? Well, it seems that the 1700cc displacement rumor is also correct. It seems that Triumph will also be offering an upgrade kit to 1700cc. Also, there will be variations on the model although he wasn't at liberty to disclose that information (yet). That's it for now, folks.

Go corner him and find out what he wasn't at liberty to say regarding the "other" versions of the bike.

Yeah Thanassis! And if your source has any pull at all in those hallowed hall over there in Hinckley, tell him for me to tell them folks there to at least put COOLING FINS JUST LIKE THIS on that "upgraded" 1700cc option, PLEASE!!! (I mean, just LOOK at how much better that engine looks with 'em, HUH???!!!)

Yes we did, I posted that it would be set back 6 months (for a redesign, which BTW I still think is going to happen) on this thread over a month ago.

I don't know who you mean by "we", but your "we" ALSO got the above info from me.
This is what I said in a post on April 15th. __________________________________ When I was at the Athens bike show a second time (the previous weekend to last) my source told me that they had originally been testing 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800 right up to 1900cc.. He still reckons he was told a 1600cc (or perhaps slightly less e.g. 1590cc) but couldn't confirm the exact displacement. __________________________________
See a resemblance? You won't find that anywhere else on here (as is the case with the name Thunderbird - prior to this thread). Please don't quote the MCN article, that only mentioned 1820 and 1920cc and not that Triumph had been testing all these displacements..
You will also note how specific his displacement details are (1600cc (or perhaps slightly less e.g. 1590cc ).
For verification check the thread below: Thread 1500-1900
Oh and by the way, as stated in my post earlier, my source tells me Triumph will also be offering an upgrade kit for the 1600 up to a 1700 ... but I guess your "we" already knew that too.

you are right...you are and where the ONLY source of info on the bike. relax francis, I'm not trying to bust your hump here.
I simpley said that some of the info you gave was already circulating. Here AND other forums and articles.
Nope....we didn't know that they would offer a 1700cc "option".
We didn't know they tested a 1900 until you mentioned it.
We DID know it was going to be anywhere between 1500 and 1700.
